Donald Trump’s eldest son blamed the radical left for the shooting at Saturday’s rally, but vowed it wouldn’t stop his father from campaigning.

It came hours after gunshots were fired at the former president at a rally in Pennsylvania, ending an already extraordinary campaign period.

The investigation is ongoing, but Donald Trump Jr. indicated there is no doubt about who was behind the attempted assassination.

“I just got off the phone with my dad and he’s in great spirits,” he said.

“He will never stop fighting to save America, no matter what the radical left throws at him.”

Earlier, President Joe Biden spoke out in front of cameras to condemn the shooting.

“There is no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s sick,” he said.

“It’s one of the reasons we need to unite this country.”

The former president was in mid-flight at his rally in Pennsylvania when shots were heard.

Trump grabbed his right ear with his right hand and then examined it with his hand. He then knelt behind the lectern, and Secret Service agents came to protect him.

More shots were heard on the live video link before the words “shooter down” were uttered.

Trump stood, blood visible under his right ear, his red “Make America Great Again” cap knocked off his head in the chaos.

But his supporters were happy when they saw him raise his fist in the air.

The campaign has already been historic, with a 78-year-old taking on an 81-year-old in a battle of the seniors.

Biden is fighting for his political life after a disappointing debate performance in Atlanta, Georgia last month that took the political stage into uncharted territory.

That was before Trump’s rally was disrupted by a gunman.

Biden’s campaign said it would suspend all outbound communications and seek to cancel TV ads.
