In addition to Fishback, other stars cast in the franchise include Anthony Ramos, as well as Peter Cullen who voiced Optimus Prime and SNL alum Pete Davidson, who lent his voice for the autobot named Mirage.
In the film, which is a sequel to Bumblebee (2018), the star plays the role of a trainee archaeologist and discussed being a part of the Transformers universe.
“I feel like I’ve always wanted to be an actress, and I’d watch TV and say, ‘I want to do something like that.’ So I saw Transformers… but I never thought they’d have me, that I’d be the girl chosen.”
She continued, “They didn’t have a lot of lead actresses who look like me, who were from where I came from, so it didn’t really seem like an opportunity.”
“I mean, a lot of things seemed achievable, but I think, especially Transformers, it was like, ‘It’s going to be something like that.’ And that’s just…” she said, her voice trailing off as she thought about getting a part in the franchise itself.
Dominique also revealed that she had no plans to initially audition for a role in the action movie. “I was like, unless the opportunity was really high, because I give a lot — it doesn’t matter if it’s an audition or I get the part, I’m going to give myself to it.”

Fishback also shared how she wrote “pages and pages of notes” on her character to better prepare for the film.

So talking about character and development, and the arc of a story is very important. And it doesn’t change, whatever the genre or medium.’

“They told me Donald had a part for me, and when I got into the meeting, they told me all about the character, about Dre, and then said they wanted me to play Marissa,” which eventually went to Chloe Bailey.
“And so I left like, man, I gotta play Dre. So I told my team. They said you might have to fight for it. And I said, “I mean, we’ve been fighting all our lives, so this is no different.”
The actress explained that after speaking to Donald in person, she explained that she wanted to “stay on my toes.” I don’t even want to know what I’m going to do now.
