Dominik Szoboszlai will miss Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Greuther Furth on Monday after spraining his ankle in training.
The Hungarian is believed to have suffered only a minor injury, but has been left off Jurgen Klopp’s schedule, largely as a precaution, with the Premier League season less than three weeks away.
While sharing the team news ahead of Monday’s friendly, which starts at 1pm local time (12am UK time), Liverpool confirmed: ‘Dominik Szoboszlai misses as a precaution after a slight crash during training.’
Klopp said ahead of kick-off: “He rolled his ankle a little bit in training. If it was a Premier League game today, he could play, but we’re not taking any chances.’
Elsewhere in the team, new Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will start for Klopp’s side.

The Hungarian midfielder joined Liverpool earlier this month on a transfer from RB Leipzig
Liverpool take on the Bundesliga 2 as part of their ongoing preparations for the new season, which begins at Chelsea on August 13.
In the first pre-season match of their trip to Germany, Liverpool defeated Karlsruher 4–2, with their goals courtesy of Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and a late brace from Diogo Jota to seal the win.
After facing Greuther Furth, Liverpool flew to Singapore for further friendlies against Leicester City and Bayern Munich.
Liverpool announced they had signed Szoboszlai on a five-year contract on 2 July, having activated the Hungarian’s £60 million transfer clause at RB Leipzig.
Klopp has confirmed to the We Are Liverpool podcast that the club is not yet done in the transfer market, with new players likely to come in, although Jordan Henderson and Fabinho may leave.
