The cousin of a teenager who died after he was believed to have tripped and fallen on a knife has been charged with his alleged murder.

Bailey Jones, 18, died on December 9 after being stabbed while at a party with close friends and family in the town of Bomaderry on the south coast of New South Wales.

Witnesses told police Bailey was playing with a large knife in the driveway of the home before tripping and falling, causing the blade to pierce his chest in a freak accident.

Investigators kept their ‘eyes open to all possibilities’ and have since charged Bailey’s cousin, Dominic Saliba, with the murder.

Police arrested the 20-year-old at his home Thursday and also charged him with possessing an unauthorized firearm and failing to store it securely, the police said. daily telegraph informed.

As Saliba was led away in handcuffs, Bailey’s friends and family said goodbye to the teenager at a moving funeral in Sydney.

His half-brother Adam Micallef shared his heartbreak over not being able to play soccer with the 18-year-old.

“In one of our last conversations, Bailey told me that he wants to come play soccer for whatever team he’s on next year so we can play a season together,” Adam said.

‘I will never have that opportunity. I will never play soccer with my little brother.

Poignant tributes have flowed on social media since Bailey’s death.

“That I can’t call you or see you at family events already hurts me a lot,” wrote one of his cousins.

‘You have left a hole in my heart that will never go away.

‘Please come home, I don’t want you to go, life is so cruel.

“I will never forget all the moments and memories that I will keep hidden in my heart and your beautiful mother, I promise that we will be there for her forever.”

Bailey’s aunt said she missed her ‘beautiful face’.

‘Please take care and observe your mother to give her strength to carry on. You will always have a special place in my heart,’ she wrote.

‘I loved you more than life. My heart hurts. I love you forever aunty.’

Another aunt wrote ‘Rest In Peace Bails, I know Nanny will take care of you’.

Saliba faced court on Thursday and was taken into custody. He will remain behind bars until he faces court again in February.
