Dominic Fike reveals whether he will be a part of Euphoria’s third season after saying the show’s sober coach failed him

Euphoria fans celebrated when news broke that the hit Max series was returning for its third and final season.

However, the cast may be missing one main character – Dominic Fike’s Elliot – and he revealed why in a recent interview with Variety at Sundance.

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter joined the cast of the drama for season two and while he thinks it would be “dope” to continue his role, he’s not sure if he’ll be invited back.

Things weren’t exactly looking positive, as he admitted: “I don’t really talk to them anymore.”

In Art Imitating Life, Fike’s character is a drug addict who causes Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer) to relapse into their own addictions.

And Fike almost got kicked off the show due to his own problems with drugs, which is a bit ironic considering he was high on mushrooms during his audition for the show.

To get into character, Fike took magic mushrooms. “I started worrying when Barbie and I were reading,” he said GQ.

“I was heavily addicted to so many drugs,” he said of that period in his life. “Trying to make a damn album in the middle of so much pressure, the drugs, my family and myself, was impossible.”

So when he was offered the role — after producers learned he had gone to rehab — production made sure he got a sober coach.

‘I’m actually a pretty big drug addict myself, believe it or not. When I was on Euphoria, they just gave me a coach who just wanted to talk to you. It was just a random lady,” he told Variety.

She was “a random lady I would never have a relationship with.” We had nothing in common. We didn’t come from the same places or the same problems. It was hard to take advice from someone like that or care.”

Fike is at Sundance to screen his new film Little Death, in which he also plays a drug addict.

This time it was easier and he didn’t need a sober coach, because the film is the directorial debut of his friend Jack Begert.

Compared to the “random lady” who acted as a sober coach on Euphoria, working with a friend made things easier for him.

“Jack is one of my best friends, so that obviously made it a lot easier,” he said.

In Little Death, Fike plays a taco case owner looking for his next opioid fix.

The film co-stars Friends’ David Schwimmer, 57, as a screenwriter who has a midlife identity crisis.
