Australian shoppers are obsessed with a cheap cleaning purchase that will eliminate mold in seconds.
Domestos Disinfectant Bleach costs just $6.60 from Coles and Woolworths and can be used throughout the house, from the shower to the floors.
Many swear by the versatile cleaning product for removing stains and mold, but others pointed out one minor drawback: it doesn’t remove spores.
Cleaning hack guru Amelia Liddy Sudbury said every Australian household should have a bottle of Domestos because it’s a “thick bleach” that gets the job done.
The mother applied the formula to an old toothbrush and to DIY cleaning clothes she made by cutting up old clothes and towels to rid her shower of mold.
Aussies say they swear by Domestos Disinfectant Bleach to remove mold, remove wall stains and make floors shiny
Domestos Disinfectant Bleach costs just $6.60 from Coles and Woolworths and can eliminate mold with just a few wipes
“Remember, it’s a thick bleach. Domestos hangs on the wall, so you only have to wipe once or twice to remove the mold,” she said in a TikTok video.
Amelia added that old towels are perfect for wiping away mold with the “hospital-grade disinfectant” because of their coarse texture.
She said she uses the product to wipe away stains on walls and tiles and dilutes it in a bucket of water to mop her floors.
“I don’t care what anyone says but this cleanses like nothing else,” one viewer replied.
“I’m obsessed with this!” another wrote.
‘Hot water in a bucket, Domestos and a good dash of washing up liquid are best for walls. A cleaner told me years ago and I swear by it,” said a third.
“I’ve had all the fancy cleaning products and old fashioned thick bleach is the best,” one person added.
However, some were not convinced that bleach only removes the dark color of the mold, but not the spores.
‘Then the color just disappears, mold thrives with bleach. Vinegar is better,” one woman suggested.
‘As a rule, bleach should not be the first thing used on mold. Vinegar or clove oil kills the fungus,” explains a second.
“You can then use the bleach once the cloves or vinegar has dried completely (since you don’t want to mix them) to remove any stains on the surface.”
