Coming into the NRL was a great occasion for the people of Redcliffe, a coastal peninsula north of Brisbane in the Moreton Bay region.

While the Redcliffe name has been dropped from the brand in an attempt to appeal to a broader audience, most of Sunday’s 35,000 attendees live in Redcliffe or have ties to the region.

Redcliffe from start to finish. He was a junior Dolphin, now look at them in the NRL. Life is good on the Peninsula with an NRL team in my backyard,” posted one fan.

Although there were some fans who came from all over including Adelaide, Newcastle and New Zealand.

The first team in history. I live in Adelaide, I don’t watch or hear much about the NRL. So when I heard the Dolphins were coming together this year, I thought it was time to start rooting for a team. I signed up for a membership and I’m so excited,” a fan posted.

I’m from Newcastle and the Knights are my first team. I have lived in Queensland for 23 years and the Dolphins are my second team. I miss live rugby league living in the west but hope to make it to a couple of Dolphins games during the year if I can,” another posted.

‘I’ve been here from New Zealand for 20 years and have never supported a Queensland team. But I thought about joining the Dolphins this year,” said another.
