Fans are getting their Victoria’s Secret underwear in a twist on the brand’s decision to feature Doja Cat as the face of their next runway show.
On Thursday, the lingerie company said it was “thrilled” to reveal that they had chosen the controversial rapper to be the featured performer in the reboot of their fashion show The Tour 23, which premieres September 26 on Amazon Prime Video.
The decision comes as the 27-year-old Grammy winner has sparked controversy by blowing up her own fan base and losing a significant number of social media followers in the process.
In the teaser, the Kiss Me More star showed off her svelte 6ft 6in figure in lingerie she “helped come up with” along with her stylist Brett Alan Nelson.
“Victoria’s Secret has always been such a fun brand to me since the beginning, and I love that I can still say that today. Being part of a global phenomenon like the Tour has been an incredible experience,” Doja Cat (born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini) told Harper’s Bazaar on Thursday.
“Because The Tour is a celebration of the power and unique talent of creatives, we really wanted to channel this message with this look. I felt so powerful and confident wearing these pieces, which is so important to me.”
Problem is, the Attention rapper — who has 62 million social media followers — has been unfollowed by 566,040 Instagram users in the past month for humiliating fans for their devotion to her and her last two “money grab” pop albums, according to Social Blade.

This heated reaction was on full display in the two’s comments from the 46-year-old lingerie retailer Instagram messages that fans dragged them to because they “brought an awful artist to perform.”
“Compared to this trash bag you’re campaigning with, you’re losing a vast majority of not only followers, but your customers,” Instagram user @sim_ran.97 wrote.
Another user named @lexylove321 said, “It’s our job to cancel rude people, don’t give them any more platforms!”
“Sorry but Doja no, too many controversies and I don’t think that fits the new idea of Victoria’s Secret you want,” Instagram user @laurii__roncero pleaded.
Another user named @mr.unik wrote: ‘Big no! Why are you going to the dark side? Why not focus on fun things plus elegant sexuality. These satanic things are bad!’
The Victoria’s Secret fashion show – which only employed tall, thin and long-haired models – ran from 1995-2018 before being canceled by ABC due to low ratings.
The San Francisco bra brand experienced a huge reckoning culminating in L Brands Inc.’s former CEO Les Wexner’s association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the Me Too movement and its call for greater diversity.
Rihanna, founder of Savage X Fenty, promptly took advantage of Victoria’s Secret’s absence and she began hosting her own annual panty extravaganza in 2019 through the exact same streaming giant, Amazon Prime Video.

Only the 35-year-old Bajan pop star made sure to be inclusive — casting models and dancers of all shapes and sizes and genders and abilities alongside performances by major artists.
The Tour 23 is not to be confused with Doja Cat’s first headlining arena tour – the 24-date The Scarlet Tour, which kicks off Halloween night at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
The I Don’t Do Drugs star seemed to be taking inspiration from Brian DePalma’s 1976 horror classic Carrie with the blood-soaked nude artwork for her fourth studio album tentatively titled Hellmouth, which RCA/Kemosabe Records will release later this year.
Doja Cat – who nearly quit the music industry a year ago – was previously forced to apologize for her very public use of homophobic slurs to attack rappers Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt in 2015 and for loitering in far-right chat rooms.
