Doja Cat just released perhaps the best album of her career, the instant classic Scarlet, and on Thursday night she hit the town in her native Los Angeles to celebrate.

The 27-year-old rapper was first spotted around 8 p.m. as she took part in Spotify’s ‘The Scarlet Experience’ to promote the record, where fans could see her creating a new work of art in a shop window on bustling La Cienega Boulevard. .

Doja teased the exclusive livestream earlier today and had given her followers strict instructions to meet at the specific location using coordinates.

Upon arrival, the Demons star sent fans into a frenzy as she began her painting, which would eventually feature the words ‘not afraid’ against a red background – a nod to her catchy global hit Paint the Town Red.

Doja, who has courted controversy throughout the promotional rollout of her fourth studio album thus far, played nice with fans as she mouthed “I love you” to the excited crowd after completing the eye-catching artwork.

While it may seem like an unorthodox setup for an album release party, it’s exactly what her fans and those who pay attention to the artist could have predicted.

Doja – real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini – has shown off her artistic skills this year, using her paintings as inspiration, most notably in her music video for Paint the Town Red.

The Dionne Warwick-sampled song made history this month by becoming the first solo female rap song to top Spotify’s Global and US Top 50 charts.

Later in the evening, with her album officially released on all platforms, the Woman hitmaker celebrated with her team at trendy LA hotspot The Nice Guy, where she stood out in a revealing monochrome mesh dress.

She certainly had a lot to celebrate too, as positive reviews for the 17-track album poured in.

In a favorable review of Stereo eraser, writer Tom Breihan mused, “No one else could have made this album. Scarlet takes on the algorithmic predictability of circa-2023 pop music with a cheerful sense of style, and it’s fun to hear someone with her level of skill and craftsmanship going wild like that.”

VultureCraig Jenkins wrote, “Scarlet moves with a keen awareness of the iconography of the disorderly pop star, the shaved-head rule breakers and alleged blasphemers, and the evolving but eternally self-righteous rage against Sinead O’Connor, Madonna, Britney Spears, and Beyoncé.” ‘

In the meantime, PJ Somervelle gave the record a 9 out of 10, stating that Doja “has lost none of her ability to paint a vivid picture or create a hit.”

The next single from the album is the light-hearted Agoura Hills, the video clip of which was also released on Thursday evening.

Fans can also see Doja support the album with The Scarlet Tour, scheduled to kick off on Halloween at San Francisco’s Chase Center, with fellow rapper Ice Spice as her opening act.
