A dodgy dog walker has been caught on CCTV footage pretending to pick up his dog’s poop from a resident’s front lawn.
An irate homeowner in Kareela in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire posted video of the man leaving dog waste on his front lawn after pretending to pick it up with a plastic bag.
The footage shows the man walking the dog on a leash through a quiet cul-de-sac before stopping so the animal can answer the call of the wild.
The man is seen quickly looking around the street for witnesses before pulling a plastic bag of poop out of his pocket.
He then appears to have difficulty opening the bag as his dog, finished with its business, surrounds the man ready to continue on his walk.
Surprisingly, the man squats down and apparently pretends to pick up the dog’s poop from the lawn, never touching the pile.
He then turns around and pretends to pick up another imaginary pile from the path.

Believing he had gotten away with the fake poop collection, the man even puts the unused doggy bag back in his pocket.
Under the New South Wales Pet Act 1998, dog owners must pick up and dispose of their dog’s droppings.
The offense carries a minimum fine of $275 up to a maximum of $880, depending on the council area.
The law only makes an exception for owners of assistance animals, such as guide dogs.
