Dog that suffered SHELL-SHOCK and was constantly twitching from Russian bombing has now recovered

A dog suffering from shell-shock as a result of Russian troops bombing Ukraine has now recovered after a Ukrainian soldier took the canine home to care for him.

The dog was found twitching uncontrollably, with its body swaying side to side, by the Ukrainian soldier while he was out on the frontline.

The soldier, deciding that he couldn’t abandon the desperate dog, brought the animal back to his home where he and his wife cared for him and helped him recover.

Heartbreaking video shows the dog shaking uncontrollably – with the tremors jolting its entire body as he tried to rest.

But the video later shows the dog’s astonishing recovery – with the canine’s tremors eventually subsiding so much so that the dog is seen happily wagging its tail whilst out on a walk. 

Heartbreaking video of the dog when he first arrived at the couple’s home shows the canine twitching uncontrollably as he led on the floor. 

The strength of the tremors meant his entire body convulsed as his breathing became laboured.

The dog’s head is seen dipping towards the floor in exhaustion, but the shell-shock from the Russian bombs meant that he was unable to rest for the constant shaking.

The video also shows the dog lying flat on the ground, with its stomach convulsing with the tremors.

The footage later shows the pup sat outside – but it is not able to walk properly because of the constant twitching. 

But the video then shows the dog wagging its tail and jumping up towards its owners, with the tremors no longer visible following weeks of recovery.

The Ukrainian soldier’s wife, who posted the footage online, said that the dog had been brought from the front line.

‘It’s hard to look at him, to the point that it brings tears to my eyes,’ she wrote as she shared footage of the dog shaking uncontrollably. ‘I wanted to help him. As a result of the strong bomb blast, he twitched, swayed and was breathing hard.’

Sharing happier footage of the dog playing, with his body no longer twitching, she added: ‘But care, love and treatment did their job and now he is a healthy and happy dog. 

‘Help the animals as much as you can, especially in such a time. Who if not us?’

Russian shelling has killed thousands of Ukrainians and millions have been forced to flee their homes.

The war has also impacted animals and in April, hundreds of dogs were found dead at an animal shelter in Ukraine after Russian occupiers left them to starve in their cages for weeks. 

Volunteer group UAnimals said that up to 485 dogs were locked in their cages at a shelter in Borodyanka, just north of Kyiv by Russian forces shortly after they invaded on February 24.

There they remained without food or water for about a month as the occupiers left them to die, until staff were able to return to the compound on April 1 once the Russian soldiers had retreated.

Footage released by the UAnimals on Instagram showed workers stacking up a huge pile of dead hounds which had wasted away in the presence of the occupiers.

Meanwhile, images of half mangled corpses in some of the cages suggested some dogs had begun to eat their dead cell mates in the complete absence of food.
