Dog attack, Success, Perth: Neighbours reveal how they could only watch on in horror as young woman Nikita Piil was savagely mauled by two rottweilers – before they begged cops to shoot the animals
A woman undergoes emergency surgery after being brutally mauled by her two Rottweilers as her neighbors watch in horror.
Nikita Piil, 31, was attacked by the dogs, Bronx and Harlem, at her home in Success, south Perth, at around 4.30pm on Saturday, with residents alerting police after hearing her blood-curdling screams.
“I heard ‘help, help, help please,'” neighbor Bryn Spencer told Nine News.
‘I thought about jumping the fence and going in to save her, but there were clearly two Rottweillers in there.
Nikita Piil, a 31-year-old Perth woman, was rushed to hospital after being brutally mauled by her two Rottweillers
“I didn’t have a knife, I didn’t have anything really good to take out this dog.
‘I only had a bat. All I could do was watch this girl get mauled while I was punching the fence.”
Another neighbor pointed a hose at one of the dogs, distracting it for a moment.
“The dog stopped for a moment and looked at me to decide what to do next,” Mr Spencer said.
‘I kept shouting at it and hitting the fence and then it decided ‘just do it’ and it grabbed the girl and dragged her behind the back corner and then I thought ‘oh no’.
Police and paramedics arrived but were still unable to stop dogs from wreaking havoc on their defenseless owner.
Mr. Spencer pleaded with the officers, “You need to get your gun out and shoot this dog; he will kill her.’
Even tasering the animal could not stop the brutal attack.
On her Facebook page, Ms Piil shows her affection for pet rottweilers, wishing them happy birthdays and calling them her babies
Fearing for the woman’s life, one of the officers used his gun to shoot one of the animals.
“Due to the extremely aggressive nature of the dogs and the ongoing risk to human life, a police firearm was discharged to stop the attack,” a police spokesperson said. The Western Australia.
The animal was seriously injured and rangers were called to take it to a nearby animal hospital where it was euthanized.
Officers managed to secure the other dog in the garage as Ms Piil was taken to hospital with serious injuries to her arms and legs.
She is currently in a serious but stable condition at Royal Perth Hospital, but doctors were preparing to conduct an emergency surgery to save her arm.
The second dog was taken to the City of Cockburn Animal Shelter, where he will remain until “the investigation surrounding the incident is completed.”
On Ms. Piil’s Facebook page, her affection for her rottweilers is very clear.
In one photo, the two dogs are seen standing next to an artificial turf field they dug out and Ms. Piil captioned it: “My babies” with a black love heart.
In another photo, she is seen kissing one of the dogs on the snout as it lies on a couch.
She also wishes her ‘baby’ Bronx a happy first birthday.
“I couldn’t ask for a more incredible, bold, loyal, intelligent and protective buddy,” she wrote.
“You are my whole world.”
Police were forced to shoot one of Ms Piil’s dogs to prevent it from attacking her and the animal was later euthanized
Ms Piil suffered serious bite wounds to her arms and legs and was rushed to hospital, where she is in serious but stable condition.
WA Premier Roger Cook said on Sunday that dog attacks are “always traumatic for everyone involved” as he thanked the emergency services who attended.
“We will continue to ensure that we monitor the situation,” he said.
‘What we need to do is continue to educate dog owners and people in the community about the dangers – potential dangers – of these types of breeds, but we will just monitor the situation.
‘But I would like to thank everyone who responded to this difficult situation and send my condolences to everyone affected by the event.’
