A recent photo of superstar Sam Kerr has fueled speculation that the Matildas forward may have already secretly married fiancée Kristie Mewis.
The Chelsea star – who has kept a relatively low profile since being accused of racially abusing a police officer – took to Instagram on Sunday to show his support for US women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark.
Kerr posted a series of photos of herself wearing Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes jersey — and in one photo, she showed off a shiny new piece of jewelry on her left ring finger.
The Aussie announced her engagement to girlfriend Kristie Mewis last November and has since been spotted wearing a plain gold band on her ring finger several times.
However, the new ring features diamonds on the gold band, opening the door to speculation that the couple has tied the knot.

It has been a difficult year for Kerr, who suffered a feared anterior cruciate ligament injury to her knee during a training camp with Chelsea in January.
The shocking setback appears certain to deter her from achieving her dream of playing for Australia at the Paris Olympics.
Last month, Australia’s most famous footballer was accused of racially abusing a police officer during a night out in London.
The incident happened a day after Kerr scored a hat-trick in Chelsea’s FA Cup win against Liverpool in January 2023. She will be tried before a jury in February next year.
That was followed by the revelation that the Chelsea star had not informed the Matildas of Football Australia of the charge, with the CEO of the Code Down Under’s governing body and national coach Tony Gustavsson explaining that they only found out when the exclusive report was published.
Both Mewis and Kerr have kept quiet since the news broke on March 5, declining to comment officially on their social media.
The football power couple met while both playing for rival clubs in the American League in 2019.
They spoke online for almost four months during the 2020 Covid lockdown before spending two weeks in quarantine together, where they quickly fell in love.

Their on-field embrace made headlines as Kerr’s split with her former long-time partner – another American club player, Nikki Stanton – had not yet become public.
Their international romance has since been extensively documented on social media, with both women amassing hundreds of thousands of followers.
