Shohei Ohtani received a special ‘visa’ for his dog during a visit to the US embassy in Tokyo, according to new photos from the organization.
Ohtani, a native of Japan, joined the Dodgers via free agency this winter with a massive 10-year deal worth $700 million.
And it looks like his dog Decoy is getting special treatment too, as US Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel recently presented him with an adorable oversized ‘visa’.
Emanuel posted photos of the visit on social media on Thursday, with the embassy saying it took place recently when Ohtani was back in Japan.
The “visa” shows a photo of the dog, whose Japanese name is Dekopin, and lists its date of birth as “dog years” and shows that the dog has dual American and Japanese citizenship.

“Happy to meet the groundbreaking two-time MLB MVP Ohtani-san again,” Emanuel posted on X. “Maybe next time I’ll be lucky enough to meet his MVPup, Decoy.”
Emanuel previously met Ohtani in March 2023 in the US, when the two-way player was with the Los Angeles Angels.
The 2023 AL MVP signed a controversial deal with the Dodgers, deferring $680 million of the $700 million he is owed until 2034.
The rest of the money will be paid to him over a period stretching to 2043.
Otani, the Dodgers and the club’s parent company will donate more than $1 million to victims of the earthquake in Japan, it was announced this week.
At least 94 people have died as a result of the 7.6 magnitude earthquake.
Ohtani said, “My hope is that we continue to come together to support those whose lives have been turned upside down. I hope for the speedy rescue of missing persons and the reconstruction of the disaster-affected areas.”
