Dodgers’ bizarre ‘crotch bump’ celebration divides opinion in MLB playoff game
While Dodgers star Kike Hernandez was excited to put his team on the board in the MLB playoffs, fans were divided over his bizarre celebration.
During Friday’s NLDS Game 5 win over the San Diego Padres, Hernandez had an interesting way of celebrating after belting a home run to take a 1-0 lead.
As he ran back to the dugout after the home run, Hernandez appeared to push teammate Gavin Lux’s cup. The viral clip would divide the fanbase as they spoke out on social media.
“Ayooo, this kike Hernandez celebration after hitting a home run is dirty work,” one user wrote.
“This is next level team chemistry right here,” joked a second.
A third added: ‘This is the most diabolical victory cheer I have ever seen?’ Meanwhile, a fourth said: ‘LMAO I wanted so badly to convince myself I was seeing something different.’
“This is a great example of next level teamwork right here,” said a fifth.
“Bro, I couldn’t believe my eyes during last night’s broadcast, this is next level,” chimed in a sixth user.
Another user responded with a photo of Hernández he appears to grab his teammate’s crotch while running – suggesting these are his usual antics.
Nevertheless, the Dodgers maintained their lead and won 2-0 in front of their home fans.
Los Angeles will host the first game of the NLCS against the New York Mets on Sunday evening.
