While the Los Angeles Dodgers announced back on August 16th that star pitcher Walker Buehler was done for the season, they never specified which surgery would be required.
That mystery was put to rest on Tuesday when Buehler posted on Instagram that he underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career.
‘Tommy John Round 2 let’s roll. See ya when I see ya @dodgers,’ read the caption under Buehler’s post.
Walker Buehler confirmed to the baseball world that he underwent Tommy John surgery
Buehler previously underwent Tommy John surgery back in 2015 after being drafted out of Vanderbilt University.
So far this season, Buehler had made 12 starts, owning a 6-3 record with a 4.02 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP.
However, he hadn’t made a start since a 7-2 losing effort to the Giants back on June 10th.
Since then, he had been rehabbing his elbow in an attempt to come back later this season and into the playoffs.
‘We’re better with Walker on our ballclub. But there’s just nothing we can do about it,’ manager Dave Roberts said back when Buehler’s season was announced as over.
‘I still believe that we have enough guys to get through October to prevent runs. But yeah, I mean, we wanted Walker to be a part of this.’
