An upcoming documentary called Ego about the life of Australian music industry legend Michael Gudinski will be released in theaters later this month.

The film takes a never-before-seen look at the hard-working individual who was instrumental in promoting Aussie music to the world.

A recently released trailer shows A-list stars Ed Sheeran, Dave Grohl and Jimmy Barnes sharing their fond memories of the legendary promoter.

Meanwhile, Gudinski’s widow Sue reveals that her husband, who died in 2021 at the age of 68, had a cheeky side that came to the fore when Frank Sinatra toured Australia in 1989.

“Someone said no one should call him ‘Frank.’ He’s called Mr. Sinatra,” she says in the trailer.

An upcoming documentary called Ego about the life of Australian music industry legend Michael Gudinski (pictured) will be released in theaters later this month.

However, she said her husband was having none of it and shocked the legendary crooner by addressing him by his first name.

“He said, ‘Frank, it’s so good to have you here, we’re going to have a feast and we’re going to have a great time tonight.'”

Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story will be released in Australian cinemas on Thursday, August 31.

Michael Gudinski passed away in March 2021 at the age of 68 and is survived by his wife Sue, children Matt and Kate and two grandchildren.

The music promoter founded record company Mushroom Records at just 20 years old and signed and launched the careers of local artists such as Kylie Minogue, who is now one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

In 1979 he founded concert promoter Frontier Touring and remained at the helm until his death.

Mushroom Group said in a statement: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Gudinski AM.

The beloved Australian music legend passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Melbourne, Australia. Michael Gudinski was a key figure in shaping the Australian music industry.

Gudinski was photographed just days before his passing at a Midnight Oil concert, acting like his “quintessential boisterous, funny self.”

He posed for a photo with Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett and ABC News Breakfast host Michael Rowland.
