If you’re having trouble going to the bathroom in the morning, even after having a cup of coffee, you might want to listen up.
A naturopathic doctor has offered three tips to get you started in the morning, if you know what we mean.
The video was recently posted on TikTok by Dr. Janine Bowringa Canadian-based expert with over 25 years of experience and clinical research to her name.
In the new clipBowring advised viewers that they should use the bathroom every morning – and “ideally” two or three times a day, before taking up her tips.
The first piece of advice she gave to stimulate bowel movements was to drink something warm when you first wake up in the morning.
“This will help stimulate your colon to release its contents,” explained Dr. Bowring out.
And it looks like the naturopath is on to something here.
According to Johns Hopkins MedicineHot drinks can help stimulate bowel movements.

This is because the high temperature can “accelerate digestive motility,” and if it’s hot coffee or tea, the caffeine can also help get things moving.
Next on Dr.’s list. Bowring was a tip consistent with ancient Chinese medicine, the doctor said.
“The best time to poop is between 7am and 9am, so make sure your circadian biology is really in tune with the light of day with sunrise, very important for that early morning poop,” she said.
And finally, her last tip also had something to do with circadian rhythm.
“The most important thing is that the circadian rhythm matches the light and dark cycle of the day, so go to bed when it’s dark, and of course get off your screen before bed,” she explained.
The doctor also emphasized the importance of maintaining a “regular sleep hygiene schedule.”
“Even on weekends, you should get up with the sun and go to bed early after dark,” Dr. advised. Bowring.
In the comments section, many users seemed to agree with some of her tips, with some swearing they worked.

“Hot water first thing in the morning has been my routine for years and it never fails,” one person wrote.
Another agreed: “A bottle of room temperature water first thing in the morning works!”
‘I’m scared. I must be doing something right,” someone else typed.
