Doctor accused of having sex with multiple women at doctor’s office apologizes to former lovers and patients as he tells court he suffers from addiction
- Dr. Plimmer is accused of inviting women for sex while at work
- He opened up about his battle with sex addiction after sleeping with 90 women
A Cambridge-trained doctor accused of having sex with multiple women during his general practice today apologized to former lovers and patients and admitted it was ‘a mess of my own making’.
Dr. Tom Plimmer said he felt ‘ashamed’ for ruining a string of women’s lives by ‘lying’ and ‘cheating’, but blamed his actions on his addiction to sex.
And the 40-year-old said he had never sought “power” over any of his lovers and insisted all his sexual relationships had been consensual.
Dr. Plimmer – who the Daily Mail revealed has previously spoken openly about his battle with sex addiction and having 90 former lovers – is accused of inviting two women for sex during working hours at the practice in Swindon, Wiltshire.
He also allegedly exchanged innuendo-filled messages with a female colleague before they began weekly sexual encounters in his consulting room.

Dr. Giving evidence for the first time today, Plimmer told a medical tribunal that the way he had treated women was ‘disgusting’.
“I betrayed their trust, I disrespected them, I lied and cheated, and there is no excuse,” he said during the hearing.
‘I feel enormous shame for everything I have done.’
Under cross-examination by General Medical Council counsel Mark Monaghan, Dr Plimmer admitted he was ‘guilty of creating a lot of the mess we’re talking about here’.
But he insisted he had not enjoyed upsetting the women or tried to “manipulate” them.
Dr. Plimmer denied using his girlfriends for sex and insisted he was looking for ‘companionship’, but admitted he regularly cheated on them.
When asked by Mr Monaghan if it was ‘normal’ to see three women at the same time, Dr Plimmer admitted it was ‘abnormal’.
“It was shameful and unfortunate, and it ultimately hurt a lot of people, and it’s all my fault,” he said.
Dr. Plimmer said the litany of cheating was a result of his self-confessed sex addiction. He said, “You’ll never meet an active addict who isn’t also a liar.”
The tribunal – which takes place via online sessions – previously heard that Dr Plimmer lied about family members, including his mother, being ill as he tried to ‘juggle’ his string of girlfriends.
Today he said: ‘I sincerely apologize to the people I lied to, my mother, brother, friends, colleagues and of course the unintended consequences this has had on patients and the ability to care for them.’
Earlier, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal panel agreed to drop allegations that Dr. Plimmer had had sex with one of the women without her consent.
It also dropped claims that he pinned the woman – who is among those who reported him to GMC – to a bed and shouted words to the effect of ‘don’t talk to someone who f***s you. ***** ****’.
The move came after legal arguments after the woman, called Miss D, refused to go ahead with her evidence.
The hearing continues.
