Doc Rivers has been fired by the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to the report, Mike Budenholzer, Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel, Mike D’Antoni, Monty Williams and Sam Cassell are all candidates for the position.

Philadelphia led Boston 3–2 in the Eastern Conference semifinals before losing back-to-back games. A 112-88 humiliation in Game 7 Sunday was his last game in charge of the 76ers franchise.

Rivers had been with the Pennsylvania organization since 2020. His time in the City of Brotherly Love will not be fondly remembered after failing to push Philadelphia to the conference finals.

After securing the No. 1 seed in his first season, Philadelphia lost to the Atlanta Hawks in the semifinals in seven games.

The following season, the 76ers were the 4th seed and again lost to the No. 1 heat in six games, again in the semifinals. Most recently, Philadelphia led 3-2 after two wins in Boston, but was unable to close out the series.

The Sixers dropped Game 6 at home 95-86 for the tawdry show at the TD Garden Sunday.

James Harden spoke about his relationship with Rivers after the game, leading some to believe that he might leave Philadelphia again this offseason to find pastures.

“Our relationship is good,” Harden said before being asked about his 76ers future.

‘I haven’t even thought about it. I just want to get a chance to compete.”

With mounting pressure on Rivers following Sunday’s final buzzer — his fifth consecutive Game 7 loss — Embiid sought to sway public opinion with praise for the longtime NBA figure.

“Coach has been fantastic and he has done a great job in my opinion,” said Embiid.

Philadelphia is now one of five NBA franchises with a head coach vacancy.

The Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons are all on the hunt for a new figurehead.
