Do YOU identify as an alien? Psychologists reveal why some people believe they are ‘starseeds’

If you think you’re an alien, you’re not alone – thousands of people identify as “starseeds” who came to Earth from another planet to save humanity.

The term “starseed” was introduced in the 1976 book “Gods of Aquarius,” but it has racked up millions of searches and over a million views of the hashtag on social media in recent months.

To write for The conversationthree English psychologists have embarked on a mission to understand why humans now identify as aliens – and it seems to come down to personalities and mental disorders.

These individuals typically feel out of place, need a sense of purpose, love fantasy, and are sometimes schizophrenic.

Starseeds, or starpeople, believe they hold information from other dimensions, histories and galaxies and claim there are several ways to tell if you are one of them.

These include searching for your life purpose, feeling more mature than others, feeling constantly unmotivated, and having no passions.

There are also different types of starseeds depending on where they come from, their characteristics and their mission on Earth.

For example, Arcturians came from the star Arcturus in the constellation Bootes

These individuals usually have a dark complexion, low body temperature and blood pressure.

According to cosmic cutstheir mission is to “bring and ground people while they are on Earth.”

Then there are the Andromedans, who come from the Andromeda galaxy and generally have an oval-shaped face and a thin build.

And the mission of this group of starseeds is “to bring peace and love to races enslaved by Repitalians.”

“Andromedans are spiritual warriors bent on freeing humans from the negative energy circuits of Reptilian starseeds,” reads CosmicCuts.

“Especially considering that no life has ever been found beyond Earth and there is evidence that extraterrestrial life has ever visited Earth,” the psychologists wrote in the piece The Conversation.

According to an expert, extraterrestrial life may be too afraid of ‘dangerous’ and ‘violent’ people to want to come here.

The team offered an answer to why humans can identify as aliens, as most people who are depressed and don’t belong will seek out anything that even remotely sounds like who they are – and even a more exciting world. create for them.

Named after psychologist Bertram Forer, the Forer effect states that people who are depressed or disenfranchised will cling to descriptions and belief systems that vaguely describe themselves.

In addition to believing you are an alien, the Forer effect occurs with horoscopes.

For individuals who are swept away in fantasy, seeing yourself as a creature from another world can be intertwined with your reality.

The experts call this resource guard error, a term that describes “some kind of unconscious memory error.”

It refers to a person who mixes up experiences in his mind and sees false ideas as their reality.

Source monitoring errors were associated with hostility and lower IQ, according to a 1997 study.

The psychologists also stated that this memory error is seen in people with schizophrenia.

“In the case of starseeds, several books from major publishers can give a sense of authenticity, as can the fact that some of them are bestsellers,” the psychologists conclude.

“Indeed, it seems that life as we know it is not as simple as we once imagined.”
