If you’re trying to use Gmail today and find it slow, unresponsive, or unusably slow, you’re not alone. A growing number of reports suggest there may be a widespread problem, even though Google hasn’t done so (yet). ) has officially acknowledged a problem.

A big spike in reports from around 8:30am ET / 12:30pm GMT Down detector show that hundreds of people are reporting Gmail problems, including long load times, dropped server connections, and the inability to send or receive emails. At the time of writing, there have been more than 500 reports of Downdetector in the US, and the numbers continue to rise.

Google’s Workspace dashboard currently shows no issues and Google has not officially responded to the reported issues. We’ve reached out to Google for comment and will update this story if we hear back.

The Ny Breaking team encountered the issues today when opening Gmail in a desktop browser, although some on Downdetector are also reporting issues in the app. Some other symptoms we experienced include blank screen and slow performance. The problem may be a cache issue, as we found that refreshing or reloading the web page has occasionally helped.

The current Gmail problems have mainly been reported in the US, but appear to be global as well, with users in regions such as Britain also reporting similar frustrations.

The majority of reports concern the browser-based version of Gmail, although a small number (5%) say the app is also affected.

Google has not yet commented on its social channels, but oninfinite loading“And “slow and laggy” performance.

Some have found that refreshing the browser has alleviated the problems, but for many the problems persist. We’ll update this story as soon as we hear from Google.
