DJ Steve Aoki and rapper Big Sean’s newest celebrity receive a new Cybertruck while average customers wait in the ‘farmer’s corner’ for information about delivery dates

Celebrities continue to enjoy the benefits of Tesla Motors’ ‘Foundation’ series of Cybertrucks, the latest of which include DJ Steve Aoki and rapper Big Sean.

Billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk himself posted a video of 46-year-old Aoki showing off his new electric ride, a Foundation CyberBeast – the top model of the three-motor, 845-horsepower vehicle – which is known to have a cash prize yields above $122,000.

And in a now-deleted post on Musk’s X platform, Def Jam artist Big Sean, 35, posed next to his own new electric car, almost two months after the rapper publicly complained about delays to his pre-order.

But Big Sean’s wait hardly compares to Cybertruck’s regular early adopters and Tesla diehards, who pre-ordered the sharp-edged, futuristic vehicle nearly five years ago when Musk first opened it up to the public in November 2019 $100 reservations.

One Cybertruck customer also expressed his frustrations with X after seeing the rapper leaning against his newly delivered Cybertruck.

‘This is really starting to irritate me. I’m sure they had a day one order like me, right? Still waiting in the farmer’s corner.’

But Sean’s wait time hardly compares to Cybertruck’s regular early adopters who pre-ordered the sharp, futuristic vehicle years ago. ‘My two-year waiting list anniversary!’ a rejected Tesla fan posted on Reddit. “Is there a real chance I’ll see this thing in 2024? (…) 2025?’

“Inherently, a status symbol is something that will attract attention,” said Edmunds auto analyst Ivan Drury Business insider“and it’s hard not to turn heads in the Cybertruck.”

Or as a fan who passes by @Teslaconomics on X you say: ‘Tesla doesn’t need to advertise, because these people do it for them.’

“There is no car company in the world that has the level and reach that these celebrities are naturally generating by driving the most popular product in the world right now.”

Aoki, a Grammy-winning electronic musician who has vacationed with models in Ibiza and performed the NFL halftime shows with Dolly Parton over the past year, seemed equally excited to show off his new car in a regular parking lot.

“Look at this beauty,” Aoki said in his social media video. “This is crazy, man. I can’t believe I bought this (…) It’s like being in a tank, man. It feels like I’m driving a tank.’

He pointed to the thin line of headlights on the front of the vehicle and said, “I love the Knight Rider vibe,” referring to the ’80s sci-fi action TV series starring David Hasselhoff and a talking Pontiac Firebird from 1982 indicated.

“This has got to be the biggest wiper of all the wipers,” Aoki continued.

Meanwhile, gallows humor about wait times has become one of many coping mechanisms among Cybertruck’s lesser-known and influential would-be customers. “I ordered mine on October 1, 2023,” one person said. “I hope it will be ready no sooner or later than July 2027.”

Other casual Tesla fans have seen eBay selling “early in line” Tesla Cybertruck reservations, which pay $100 to early adopters, offering to flip their spot in line for thousands of dollars, and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars

Big Sean was more subdued, leaning against his Cybertruck in a tough stance.

The end of January, a short video circulated on social media, apparently filmed from the rapper’s phone as he complained about delays with his order.

The video, captioned with a “smoking” or “raised” face emoji, depicted a parked Cybertruck that Big Sean had spotted on the street – an unknown customer managing to get the EV in front of him.

‘Oh okay. Yes, you hear the rapper who scored Billboard top hits for Kanye West’s GOOD Music label for 14 years say, apparently seething with indignation.

“I pre-ordered mine. You know?’ he continued. “We were done, brother. I have reserved.’

The speculators and scalpers, who caught the attention of Tesla itself late last year, have raised questions about the electric vehicle manufacturer’s resale policy.

A clause in the Pre-order agreement for Cybertruck motor vehicles shows that the company “may unilaterally cancel any order that we believe was placed for the purpose of resale of the vehicle or otherwise placed in bad faith.”
