DJ Clark Kent who worked with Jay-Z and Mariah Carey is dead at 57 after colon cancer battle

DJ Clark Kent has passed away at the age of 57.

The musician battled colon cancer for three years, TMZ reported on Friday.

His family confirmed on Instagram that the music producer passed away on Thursday with loved ones at his side.

His wife Kesha, daughter Kabriah and son Antonio, also called Mage, were all with him when he passed away.

New York native Rodolfo A. Franklin was an influential force in the hip-hop community, collaborating with some of the biggest names in music.

A documentary about his life is in development called God’s Favorite DJ: The Story of DJ Clark Kent, with commentary from Jay-Z, Questlove and DJ Khaled.

His credits include Jay-Z’s Brooklyn’s Finest and Mariah Carey’s Loverboy

“It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of the beloved Rodolfo A. Franklin, known to the world as DJ Clark Kent,” the Instagram post read.

“Clark passed away Thursday evening surrounded by his devoted wife Kesha, daughter Kabriah and son Antonio,” it said.

“Clark quietly and bravely fought a three-year battle with colon cancer while continuing to share his gifts with the world.

“The family is grateful for everyone’s love, support and prayers during this time and asks for privacy as they cope with this immense loss.”

In August it was announced that a new film about his life is being made.

Hip-hop radio personality Angie Martinez makes her directorial debut with the Kent documentary.
