DIY bride’s ‘cute’ wedding favour idea is branded ‘cheap trash’: ‘I’d leave it on the table’

A DIY bride has left people in a frenzy after revealing her “cute” party favour trick, with many claiming it’s the worst gift they’ve ever seen.

The young woman decided to give her guests small glass bottles of salt as a thank you for attending her big day.

She shared a video of her putting together the beautiful keepsakes. She fills the small bottles with the bulk salt and seals the cap with a cork. She adds small, personalized stickers with the wedding date.

But the simple, cost-saving idea failed to appeal to most people and quickly went viral, with thousands of people sharing their honest and brutal opinions.

“It just proves once again that wedding favors are junk,” was a fierce response from one woman.

“I would buy something people can use, like olive oil, or maybe bottles of wine. That’s cheap,” said another.

“If you give me sea salt as a thank you for my wedding, I’ll give you pepper as a wedding gift,” said another woman.

“I would respectfully leave that on the table,” said another.

The woman filled small bottles with sea salt that she had bought in bulk. Some people said that the gift would be “sweet” if a more exclusive salt was used as in the photo (stock image)

Another woman noted that it was more a matter of taste than a favor.

Many questioned the practicality of the gift as they had no idea what it would be used for, while another said it was ‘the cheapest thing they had ever seen’.

“Is it to give to the salty guys because they’re jealous? Or am I thinking too much,” one woman asked.

Others would have preferred the jars to be filled with quality salt, such as Maldon salt from England, rather than unremarkable bulk sea salt.

However, some loved the idea and were confused by the negative feedback.

“Adorable! The last wedding we went to, they gave us mini jars of honey,” said one woman.

A woman gave similar favors at her wedding, using pink Himalayan salt, and claimed everyone loved it.

Since the favors were for a California beach wedding, others were more understanding and said sea salt would definitely fit the beach vibe.

One user defended the nice idea with a more philosophical explanation.

“This is so sweet, as a spiritual person sea salt is the best. For those who don’t understand, it symbolizes the preservation and durability of the bond and wards off all evil and blesses the marriage,” she said.
