Disney’s Christmas parade is fiercely panned by ‘disappointeviewers: ‘This ain’t it’

On Christmas morning, fans were treated to the annual Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade on ABC – but it seems like it wasn’t a hit with everyone this year.

This year’s parade, which was hosted by Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, featured some great performances from singers John Legend, Elton John, Carly Pearce and K-pop band SEVENTEEN.

The cast of Descendants: The Rise of Red also performed an extensive concert for the audience, showcasing their impeccable choreography and singing.

Of course, the parade also included Disney favorites such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story and the Disney Princesses.

The parade was filmed from Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, Florida, but also included segments shot at other Disney Park locations, such as the Aulani resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii.

But while some may have enjoyed the fun television tradition, others were skeptical this year and took to X, formerly Twitter, to decry the event.

Some criticized the number of ads included in the program this year, saying it felt like they were just watching a commercial for Disney cruises.

“Hello Disney. I love you but can we have a little more PARADE and a little less ads,” one person wrote.

Another agreed: ‘Right? “I just told my husband this looks more like an ad for Disney Cruise Line than a Christmas parade.”

‘Why does the Disney Parade forget what Walt wanted? To be a child again. Instead, it’s a play production and not so much about the characters. So disappointed again,” someone else complained.

“It’s mostly ads,” one viewer agreed.

Another person said the popular Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade “far exceeded” this one.

‘As an adult you really start to realize what the Disney Christmas Parade actually is. Because where is the actual parade? And why the hell do people wear shorts?!” another injured.

Others were less than pleased with Legend’s performance of his song This Christmas.

The star wore a bright red suit as a full orchestra played next to him.

“Dear John Legend, with all due respect, your version of This Christmas is not the same. Sir Chris Brown has set the bar so high that he is untouchable,” one X user typed.

Another admitted: “The red suit is sharp but I hate listening to John Legend singing Lmao.”

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom this Christmas as some viewers were excited about this year’s parade and performances.

Many shared photos on X of themselves watching the parade on their TVs as part of their Christmas morning traditions.

“I always watch the 2024 Disney Christmas Day Parade on TV every year on Christmas morning. I love this so much,” one person said.

“Watching this Disney Christmas parade really makes me want to be a voice in a Disney movie or sing a little lol,” a second user shared.
