Disneyland is introducing a cartoon character known for swearing at people. Fans are hoping he’ll actually start swearing at the family-friendly park.
The theme park in California announced on tuesday that a Deadpool meet-and-greet character will appear for a limited time starting Friday at the Avengers Campus at Disneyland California Adventure Park.
His appearance will coincide with the new film Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, which opens in theaters that evening.
Some fans are now hoping the foul-mouthed mercenary, whose films are rated R, can abuse guests.
One Instagram user even wrote, “If he doesn’t swear at me the magic is gone.”

Another asked if the costumed character could swear, “because I want to see him swear at Mickey,” while a third wrote that “HR is going to make a holiday out of this.”
But Disneyland officials stress that while the Deadpool films are aimed at a more mature audience, any appearance of the character at Disney theme parks will provide an experience and interaction for all ages, they told The Orange County Register.
Some have since suggested that the masked superhero may not actually be talking to guests, but rather performing a pantomime like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Goofy.

This sets Deadpool apart from the other superheroes in Disneyland’s California Adventure, who like to talk to guests.
Still, that doesn’t stop visitors from insulting the fast-healing mercenary and posting his videos on social media.

Dirk Libbey, a writer for Cinema Blend, has proposed instead the character would have to “have access to a pre-recorded beep so he can censor his own language, and then get annoyed every time that happens.”
However, it is still unclear how Disneyland will handle the R-rated character.
