Disney star defends Blue Ivy, 12, after backlash over ‘inappropriate’ gown at Mufasa premiere

Christina Milian is defending Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy, following the young star’s red carpet appearance at the Mufasa: Lion King premiere.

Milian, 43, was a guest on the Wendy Williams show on Tuesday, where she was asked about her thoughts on Blue Ivy’s outfit at last night’s event after some called the 12-year-old’s dress “inappropriate.”

Blue Ivy wore a strapless gold dress with a long train for her appearance. While on the red carpet, she was joined by her superstar mother, 43, and her father Jay-Z, 55, just a day after he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in a shocking civil lawsuit.

‘First of all, she looks beautiful. “I think the fact that someone has something to say about someone else’s daughter, any minor, you just have to mind your business,” the Disney star said.

‘She’s talented, she toured the world with her mother, like you can’t say anything. You can’t dim that shine.”

Wendy then said that Blue was acting ‘so ready’ while Milian agreed. “Make that baby glow!” she added.

Milian and Williams both agreed at the time that Blue Ivy didn’t do “too much” and wasn’t “extra.”

The pop star’s eldest child wore a metallic Christian Siriano ball gown as she posed with her parents on the red carpet.

The dress had a sweetheart neckline and a draped bodice. Her dark brown locks were styled in braids with loose curls.

For her glamorous look, Blue Ivy opted for gold eyeshadow, pink blush and a glossy red lip.

The talented youngster is set to make her feature film debut in Mufasa: The Lion King and joined her parents and grandmother Tina Knowles to promote the film at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

Matching her daughter, Beyonce wore a strapless black Balmain dress studded with metallic gold discs.

After the performance, a number of critics expressed their disapproval of Blue Ivy’s ‘inappropriate’ outfit.

‘There’s been a lot of chatter online about Blue Ivy’s dress being inappropriate…which I didn’t understand until I read that she’s TWELVE YEARS OLD! How about we don’t put a 12 year old in a push up bra,” one person wrote.

‘Blue Ivy looks beautiful, but honestly I thought “wow, she’s 16 already?” No, it turns out she’s twelve. Let a girl dress like she’s twelve, please.’

“Blue Ivy looks very nice, but she’s twelve, totally inappropriate dress.”

“Blue Ivy is a beautiful little girl, but SHE’S A LITTLE GIRL, made to look much older than any twelve-year-old. It’s just way too grown-up a dress. The fact that she is showing her cleavage is disturbing. When you realize this young girl is only twelve, it only makes things worse.”

Another comment read: ‘Blue Ivy wearing that dress and makeup at age 12….she is literally 12 not 18!!!! Does her stylist or her mother’s stylist know this?’

However, others disagreed, calling the dress “beautiful.”

“You guys need to leave Blue Ivy alone. She’s twelve. Her dress is beautiful. Worry about the kids being showcased on the beauty pageant stages… Just say it real.”

‘Please stop projecting craziness onto children. It was Blue Ivy’s movie premiere night. She was with her family and bodyguards. She wore a beautiful dress that looked like a modern princess. She colored according to her mother! At the age of twelve, other teenagers were being praised.”

Gushing over her daughter’s achievements, Beyonce wrote on Instagram: ‘My beautiful girl. This is your night. You worked hard and you did a great job as the voice of Kiara. Your family couldn’t be more proud. Keep shining.’

Blue Ivy provides the voice for the Kiara character in the Disney film, which hits theaters on December 20.
