Disney+ releases official action-packed trailer for new Percy Jackson and the Olympians reboot series as new monsters and thrilling plots are unveiled
Young actor Walker Scobell is introduced as the title character, who discovers that the stories of Greek gods and mythical creatures he grew up with are all real.
He will be tested as a demigod alongside his friends Annabeth, now played by Leah Sava Jeffries, and Grover, played by Aryan Simhadri.
The teaser begins with Percy visiting a museum as a child and studying an epic statue inspired by Greek mythology with his mother Sally.
'Perseus. That's me,' he tells his mother, who confirms that he is named after the ancient hero.

“He was brave and kind and against all odds he managed to find his way to a happy ending,” she says.
After a brief but intimidating montage, the trailer cuts to Percy when he is 12 years old and being bullied by other kids.
“I'm used to the world feeling strange to me,” he says in a voiceover. 'Like a puzzle with half the wrong pieces, but lately it all feels different.'

Glynn Turman, who plays Chiron, has some words of wisdom for Percy: “You are special.
“If you're ready to hear what the gods have in store for you. They'll tell you.'
Percy's world then begins to turn upside down as he begins to see strange signs of the gods, such as a Pegasus and shaking artifacts.

His mother Sally says, “The stories I've told you about Greek gods and monsters, they're real.
“This is crazy,” Percy is heard saying as his mother responds, “You're a half-blood and half-bloods aren't safe in the world.”
As the trailer continues to unfold, the overarching plot is revealed as Percy's father Poseidon asks him for help in retrieving the stolen 'master bolt'.
The epic eight-episode series will launch with a two-episode premiere on December 20 on Disney+, followed by new episodes weekly.
