Disney+ release of Loki season two announced with new trailer as ‘most watched Marvel Studios series’ promises new thrills for the God of Mischief

Loki is back with an action-packed season two that pits the God of Mischief against new ailments and old foes.

Thor’s beloved spin-off show about the scheming brother of the God of Thunder is the “Most Watched Marvel Studios Series” on Disney+.

And this year, the new season promises “new excitement,” as the eponymous protagonist, played by Golden Globe winner Tom Hiddleston, faces an impending war.

Propelling into a new series of adventures with the Time Variance Authority (TVA), Loki suffers a bout of time slippage in the first official trailer for the second season.

Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan makes his MCU debut as the TVA archivist Ouroboros who has no cure for Loki’s glitches through time.

“If what I saw is true, nothing stands between this world and utter destruction,” Loki warns ominously. “War is on its way.”

The character of the 42-year-old Englishman references the fallout from the first-season finale, where his variant-turned-love-interest Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) stabbed antagonist He Who Remains, played by embattled star Jonathan Majors.

When Loki questioned how one can choose who lives and who dies, the 33-year-old’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania character emerged from the shadows to answer, “Make the hard choice.”

Eric Martin’s MCU Phase Five show also features Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, and Eugene Cordero.

Along with stars Tara Strong, Neil Ellice, Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie and Liz Carr.

“At the end of season one, the story isn’t over. I think that’s very clear,” Tom told Total Film last August.

“Loki is almost more unstable and as turbulent, passionate and chaotic as he’s ever been. And maybe some of that needs a fix. There are things to unpack.

‘(Playing Loki) is a source of eternal surprise and joy, the whole journey. It’s definitely part of my life now and always will be.’

Tom – who is also an executive producer on Loki – has portrayed Thor’s adopted brother in several MCU projects over the past 12 years.

Loki season two will be released on Disney+ on October 6.
