Disney’s High School Musical: The musical the series returns to Disney+ for the last season on Wednesday, August 9.
The highly anticipated finale, a spin-off of the beloved film franchise, is a treat for fans as characters from the past three seasons and favorites from the film series return.
The eight-episode series follows the action as a film crew comes to East High along with the original Wildcats to film “High School Musical 4: The Reunion.”
This disrupts the Wildcats’ current plan to stage a production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Meanwhile, current students are recruited as extras for the film.

Things get complicated for the show’s regular characters, including Ricky, played by Joshua Bassett and Gina played by Sofia Wylie, who are looking to score roles in the film.

In another plot twist, the film’s director, played by Caitlin Reilly, tries to stay out of high school politics – further complicating matters.
Fans can look forward to the return of Corbin Bleu, who played Chad in High School Musical: 3 before the finale.
Lucas Grabeel who played Ryan in the same movie also appears as himself in HSM: The Series Season 4.

Premiering in 2019, High School Musical: The Musical The Series is a mockumentary set in East High, the fictional location for the original HSM film series.
The series follows a group of high school students and musical theater fans who want to reenact a version of the original High School Musical movie as their main production.
Hollywood star Zac Efron starred in the first High School Musical Disney TV movie in 2006, which 7.7 million people in the US tuned in for the premiere.
Three other feature films followed. The franchise brand has also been picked up internationally with versions made in China, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
