Three of Disney’s most popular animated movies will have new installments.

“Today I’m pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios for some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” said Iger.

“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re building on our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

The news came after Iger revealed that 7,000 employees would be laid off from the company, after an earlier earnings report revealed a loss of 2.4 million Disney+ subscribers.

The Frozen sequel will be the third in the franchise. The first one was released in 2013, followed by Frozen II in 2019.

The Zootopia sequel will be the first sequel to the 2016 animated film.

Meanwhile, the new Toy Story movie is a follow-up to 2019’s Toy Story 4 and last year’s Lightyear spinoff.
