Disgusting snaps of Butterball turkeys after resurfaced clip showed bird ‘being sexually assaulted’ on farm

A California woman was shocked to discover that the Butterball turkey she bought for Thanksgiving was completely spoiled after hearing about claims that birds were being sexually abused on a farm in resurfaced footage.

Tami Burke posted gruesome images on Facebook of a Butterball turkey she bought at a Menifee supermarket. The images showed a deteriorated and discolored bird.

‘Check your Turkey early. I’ve been cooking turkeys for years and have never seen this before,” Burke warned in her disturbing message. “Mine was rotten or battered and badly bruised.”

‘If animal abuse is a problem, I have no problem also approaching animal activists to investigate. Vegetarianism sounds really good now,” she claimed.

Burke returned the turkey to the store disappointed, which she said was a major “inconvenience,” just days before the turkey holiday.

She also claimed that she informed Butterball of her gruesome discovery.

“I really couldn’t trust any other turkey,” Burke added, saying that this year she opted for a three-tip beef roast instead of the poultry product.

The unpleasant post comes as the nation’s largest turkey supplier has come under heavy scrutiny following a 2006 PETA video showing violence and sexual assault against turkeys at a Butterball slaughterhouse in Ozark, Arkansas.

After heartbreaking footage (pictured) recorded by PETA 20 years ago showed brutal abuse and torture of turkeys, angry fans have trolled the food giant’s social media pages.

An unnamed researcher revealed the alleged atrocities he witnessed as workers ‘chained and slaughtered’ more than 50,000 turkeys every day. PETA.

In the shockingly graphic video, the investigator claimed he saw a Butterball employee stick his finger into a turkey’s cloaca, or vagina, for “fun.”

Another worker allegedly “humped” a turkey while it was being held.

The researcher recalled another terrifying case in which a “worker challenged another worker by holding a bird by the legs and pulling her back and forth.

“The second man grabbed the bird and hit her.”

Footage showed workers aggressively handling several turkeys, throwing, beating and hanging them to death.

“Nothing human has ever happened in a slaughterhouse,” Amber Canavan, the Vegan Campaign Project Manager for PETA, told DailyMail.com.

As written in the researcher’s study witness log: ‘One worker picked up a live bird and stomped on her head, crushing her skull until her head exploded. Then he laughed and wiped the blood from his leg. He also threw birds against the concrete and hit others.’

One user even said they “threw away my Butterball turkey and will never buy from you again,” as calls for a boycott continue to rise just days before Thanksgiving.

During his 40-day stint at the gruesome facility, the witness said workers would smash birds against metal bars and violently break their backs and legs.

The researcher pondered the bulging bird eyeballs, exposed spines and severed limbs in the chilling video.

“The workers at this factory were clearly not trained in animal welfare – some workers even bragged about their abuse,” he claimed.

Just days before Thanksgiving, the unflattering images have left social media users cringing in disgust as many call for a boycott.

In recent days, since the video resurfaced, social media platforms have been flooded with negative comments, with people declaring that they will not be purchasing from Butterball this year.

Others claimed they had returned the Butterball turkeys they had already purchased.

This month alone, Butterball has sold approximately 15 million turkeys nationwide. Owner of the fleet reported.

Since then, people have been quick to call the company a “literal disgrace” and wish it a “shame”

One Facebook user commented: ‘A truly disgusting case of sexual abuse. Boycott Butterball!’

“Boycott Butterball,” another echoed the sentiment. “This is a bottle, this is sadistic, this is disgusting.”

Other posts reiterated the idea that the ‘annoying’ video has put many off buying from the well-known brand.

The heartbreaking, resurfaced clip is just one of many alarming videos PETA has shared online in the run-up to Thanksgiving, urging people to reconsider the food on their plates this year.

“It’s never too late to go out and grab that vegan roast,” Canavan said. “Save that turkey from the horrors of the slaughterhouse.”

In an email to DailyMail.com, a Butterball spokesperson defended the company.

The statement reads: ‘We are aware of a video from almost two decades ago that is being reshared on social media. This video is not current and does not reflect our animal welfare policy in any way.

‘Animal care and welfare are central to who we are as a company, and we are committed to the ethical and responsible care of our flocks. “That means maintaining the health and well-being of our turkeys is an ongoing effort.”

The 2006 video resurfaced just days before Thanksgiving, with many people expressing their disgust and outrage. Some claimed they are returning their Butterball turkeys

The spokesperson added that Butterball has annual audits conducted by a third party to ensure its facilities meet “more than 200 science-based best practice standards for turkey care.”

She added, “Butterball was the first and remains the only turkey company to be American Humane certified. We are proud to be serving 1 in 3 turkeys this Thanksgiving.”

Butterball did not respond to DailyMail.com regarding Burke’s Facebook post.
