A night of frustration boiled over on the New York Giants sideline as quarterback Daniel Jones and head coach Brian Daboll appeared icy following a 24-3 rout at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks.

When Jones came to the sideline late in the third quarter, an irate Daboll went to his quarterback to yell at him. Jones appeared to look at him and then walked away without saying a word.

Later that evening, Daboll tried to go to Jones on the couch and talk through something with him on a tablet. Jones appeared to ignore him and Daboll responded by tapping the tablet at an assistant.

It was a night of deep disappointment for Giants fans, who watched Jones complete 27 passes for just 203 yards while being sacked 10 times.

He became the first player to be sacked that many times and throw a pick-six since 1985.

That pick six came via rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who returned it 97 yards to the house late in the third quarter.

Geno Smith threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf late in the first quarter after Mario Edwards Jr. The Seahawks (3-1) won their third straight game.

A fourth-quarter interception by Quandre Diggs set up a Jason Myers field goal in the fourth quarter as Seattle improved to 6-0 at MetLife Stadium, including the franchise’s only Super Bowl victory.

Bobby Wagner, Jordyn Brooks, Witherspoon and Uchenna Nwosu each had two sacks. Wagner also had 17 tackles.

Graham Gano made a 55-yard field goal for the Giants (1-3), who have played a good half in four games this season and looked nothing like the team that made the playoffs last year for the first time since 2016.

Seattle clung to a 14-3 lead late in the third quarter as the Giants moved from their 43 to the Seahawks 5.

At second base and goal, Daniel Jones tried to hit Parris Campbell and the receiver appeared to stumble.

Jones’ pass went to Witherspoon, the No. 5 overall pick in the draft, and he scored a nearly untouched crossing from the right side of the field to the left to make it 21-3.

The Giants’ offense has struggled the past two games, with star forward Saquon Barkley out with a high ankle sprain and Andrew Thomas sitting out three games with a hamstring injury.

The Seahawks didn’t do much against the Giants defense. The only real drive they had was seven plays, 75 yards just before halftime, which was engineered by backup Drew Lock, who replaced Smith after he bruised a knee and needed X-rays. The drive included a 51-yard pass to Noah Fant.

Smith, returning for the second half, finished 13 of 20 for 110 yards. A battered Jones was 27 of 34 for 203 yards. He ran 10 times for 66 yards.

After the game, a reporter asked Daboll what he wanted Jones to do on that pick-six play where the Giants were just three yards away from a touchdown of their own.

“Obviously no interception,” the coach replied.

Things won’t get any easier for the Giants – who now have to travel to take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 5 before playing the Buffalo Bills in primetime in Week 6.
