A former Oklahoma prosecutor has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for trading sexual favors in exchange for legal help and providing drugs.

Daniel Giraldi, 45, who moonlighted as a criminal named “Vegas G,” provided drugs and engaged in favorable legal actions that benefited the suspects in exchange for sex.

This includes actions such as dropping charges, eliminating traffic violations, and reducing bail amounts.

Giraldi was charged by federal prosecutors in 2022 with bribery of a government official, interstate travel in aid of racketeering, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and use of a communications facility in furtherance of drug trafficking.

He also admitted “to defrauding the citizens of Oklahoma and the Ottawa County District Attorney’s Office of their right to the honest and faithful services he owed them as Assistant District Attorney by stating that he had accepted bribes in exchange for corrupt official acts from which the defendants benefited. ‘ under the plea agreement.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the crimes were committed between February 2019 and his arrest in April 2022.

The agreement caused Giraldi to relinquish his Oklahoma Bar license and agree never to petition the Oklahoma Bar for reinstatement.

He will also never be allowed to hold public office or a position of public trust within Oklahoma.

Giraldi was sentenced this week after his release to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised probation.

U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson said, “As a public servant for the people of Ottawa County, Daniel Giraldi has disgraced the office of Assistant District Attorney.

‘He had a duty to act with integrity and competence. Instead, he violated the law and the trust the prosecutor placed in him. “The investigators were unyielding in their pursuit of justice in this case, ensuring Giraldi’s conviction.”

An FBI agent who specializes in drug trafficking investigations wrote in a court affidavit that “Giraldi was known to accept sexual favors from women in exchange for helping his client’s associates and as payment for services rendered.”

No thorough investigation has yet been ordered into the cases he presided over, and it is not yet known how many victims have been affected by his conduct.

Before becoming an assistant prosecutor, Giraldi was a criminal defense attorney. One of the people he represented at the time, Bryan Young, called him “Vegas G.”

An FBI agent who specializes in drug trafficking investigations wrote in a court statement that “Giraldi was known to accept sexual favors from women in exchange for assisting his client’s associates and as payment for services rendered.”

Once his criminal activities came to light, the FBI made an elaborate plan to arrest him red-handed.

Last year, a woman who was the FBI’s confidential informant contacted Giraldi as he was leaving the Ottawa County courthouse.

The woman asked Giraldi for help with her and another woman’s child custody case, which he rejected.

In vulgar terms, he reminded the woman that they had had sex “right across the courtroom,” the FBI agent wrote in the court affidavit. He was referring to the rejection of her previous affairs in exchange for sex when he brought this up.

The federal agency secretly recorded the entire conversation.

Giraldi later sent the woman text messages explaining that he was in the mood for sex. He told her they could “always meet at the courthouse like old times” and “I’ll help you.”

On April 14, 2022, the woman texted him and offered him sex every week for a year if he postponed the other woman’s court date for a few weeks.

“I’ll make your day,” he texted back.

During a phone call recorded by the FBI the same day, the woman asked Giraldi to use his position as assistant prosecutor to search for any outstanding warrants she had against her.

The pair also continued to text back and forth about an upcoming sexual encounter and at one point in the conversation she asked him to bring Xanax.

‘Yes, idiot. . “Maybe I want something extra in return,” he texted back.

On the morning of their meeting, the woman sent Giraldi to a home in Quapaw, where the FBI confronted him as soon as he pulled out his bag of drugs.

A thorough investigation into the cases he presided over has not yet been ordered, and it is not yet known how many victims have been affected by his conduct.
