Disgraced DA Sandra Doorley sent colleagues a brutal email just days before bodycam showed her berating cops who caught her speeding

New York District Attorney Sandra Doorley sent a brutal email to colleagues just days before bodycam showed her berating officers who caught her speeding.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office called some of its staff “a disaster, plain and simple,” in the email, obtained by Democrat and Chronicle.

She started the email on a positive note, offering support to those who had completed tasks at a pace she deemed reasonable, writing: “Many of you are working extremely hard on your cases and have been diligent in managing your cases . Thank you so much!!!’

But the tone quickly changed, angrily claiming: ‘many of you are a disaster, plain and simple. This will not be tolerated.’

She continued, emphasizing her dissatisfaction in bold letters: “It is unacceptable to ignore your duties as a prosecutor. I have gone to great lengths to advocate for higher salaries and wage increases. It is disheartening and disheartening to see so many of you dropping the ball on so many issues.”

The email continued: “Starting the week of May 6, each of you, including bureau chiefs, will meet with me in person to discuss your files. Bureau chiefs are not required to attend meetings with your bureau members. Appellate attorneys don’t have to worry. Be prepared to discuss the status of all your cases, including criminal investigations.”

This tough communication style was familiar to some of her former employees who left the DA’s office during Doorley’s tenure, which began in 2011.

Doorley’s office has been accused of a toxic environment for years.

Prosecutors have dropped out over private practices, with some accusing Doorley of having a “hostile” management style. Democrat and Chronicle reported.

Local attorney Daniel Strollo, who previously worked for the District Attorney’s Office, told the newspaper that Doorley “can be difficult to work for.”

But Doorley argued that her turnover was average compared to other offices — and she called complaints about her attitude sexist.

The disgraced city worker is now under investigation after he was caught on bodycam calling a police officer a “son of a bitch” over a speeding ticket after refusing to stop when she was pulled over.

The heated incident occurred on April 22, when an officer followed Doorley to her home after she was caught for speeding 20 miles over the limit in her hulking GMC Yukon SUV.

Doorley was driving 55 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. She now faces a state investigation into her conduct.

Doorley only admitted to driving 60mph in a 55mph zone after humiliating bodycam video surfaced and quickly went viral.

The footage begins with Doorley telling an officer, “I’m sorry. “I’m the prosecutor I wanted to go to because I got off work.”

When the officer tells Doorley the reason for the traffic stop, she responds, “I don’t really care.”

The officer then orders her to step outside her garage, but she refuses.

As things continue to escalate, the district attorney calls Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier on her cell phone and asks, “Can you please tell them to leave me alone?”

As the officer tells her that she made the situation worse than it needed to be by refusing to stop, Doorley responds, “Just write me the traffic ticket.”

The officer reminded her that it was no longer just a traffic ticket – and that failure to obey an officer’s order to pull over and stop is a “warrantable violation.”

Doorley explained that she didn’t see the point in stopping when she was so close to her driveway. ‘I thought it would be easier. “I was wrong,” she said.

As she refuses to leave her garage, she hands the officer the phone to speak to the police chief, telling him, “Leave me alone, this is ridiculous.”

You hear the officer say to her, “What do you want us to do?” Not doing our job because it’s you? You have therefore broken another law. You should know better.’

Later in the dramatic bodycam footage, Doorley can be heard complaining that she had a really bad day “dealing with murders in the city.”

Doorley released a statement Thursday admitting she went over the speed limit — and again tried to justify her decision by saying the distance was less than half a mile from her neighborhood.

“No one, including your prosecutor, is above the rule of law, not even traffic laws. Anyone who knows me understands without a doubt that I have dedicated my entire 33-year career to the safety of this community,” she said.

“My work to ensure the safety and respect of law enforcement has been proven time and time again.

“I stand by my work and continue to stand by my commitment to the public safety of Monroe County,” Doorley continued.

On Saturday, the Rochester City Council sent a letter to Attorney General Letitia James imploring her to investigate the conduct of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley.

“Recent body camera footage shared by the Webster Police Department has raised significant concerns regarding Ms. Doorley’s conduct during a traffic stop in Webster, New York,” the letter said.

“This incident has led us to question her fitness to serve as a prosecutor, and we believe an investigation by your office is warranted.”

The document was signed by all nine city council members, who believe Doorely has violated the standards of “ethics, responsibility and respect for the law” that her title requires.

Locals say Doorley’s behavior makes a mockery of the law and could lead criminals to say they ignored the laws because they felt like it – the same excuse used by the woman paid to prosecute them.
