A 29-year-old man has divided opinion on Reddit after sharing a list of things that would stop him from dating a woman.

Posting his list on Reddit, the user outlined several circumstances that would keep him from a relationship.

Taking to the social media platform, they said: β€œI am a 29 year old straight man who has been actively dating since I was 18.

'During that time, I've met a wide range of women and put together a short dealbreaker list to help me determine suitability early in the dating stage.

'I showed this to a friend who said it was too harsh and quite discriminatory.'

From past infidelity to being a single mother, the long list baffled others, who thought he was too idealistic in his search for the perfect romance.

One user replied: 'No. Keep in mind that the older you are, the more baggage everyone naturally has.”

Another pointed out that every individual has certain flaws in their character, meaning compromise and understanding may be important for the original poster to keep in mind.

They said: 'It's also worth remembering that sometimes compromises are worth it.

'I have been with my partner for almost 7 years now. Did he check every box I was looking for when I was originally dating? Probably not, but I love him anyway. I'm sure I wasn't 100% perfect for him either,” they added.

A third also warned that it was unrealistic to expect people to meet all his conditions.

They replied, β€œYes, NO ONE gets to be 30+ without SOME baggage. No one can live perfectly forever.”

It comes after another user took to Reddit ask happily married users for the advice they wish everyone knew when it came to having a successful relationship.

One said the most important advice they can give is to communicate and talk seriously about things with your partner.

Another advised that if one of you has a problem with the other, it is important to express the problem so that the problem can be resolved and not cause a bigger argument later.

A fellow Reddit user suggested that it's never a good idea to go to sleep angry at each other and always talk things through.
