Discounted fuel: Metro Petroleum at Figtree, Wollongong will offer to 99c per litre this Tuesday
Australian drivers looking for a reprieve from rising petrol prices amid a national cost-of-living crisis can fill up their tanks for less than $1 per liter for a limited time.
Queues are expected to form around the Metro Petroleum on Bellevue Rd in Figtree, near Wollongong, on Tuesday afternoon.
The service station will offer petrol, gas and diesel at 99 cents per liter from 3pm to 5pm, in partnership with giveaway company Dreams Come True (DCT).
The reduced price at the pump is just over half the current cost of the cheapest unleaded option, E10, at the Figtree petrol station, which was 187 cents per liter on Monday evening.
Drivers can refill their cars with petrol, diesel and gas for just 99 cents per liter at Metro Petroleum in Figtree between 3pm and 5pm on Tuesday.
It comes just a week after DCT teamed up with Metro Petroleum at Punchbowl for the same promotion.
During the event, one driver brought a 600 liter fuel tank, while others brought jerry cans to refuel and store for later.
The discount was even more drastic last week, with the Punchbowl location costing drivers 192.7 cents before the discount was imposed.
Although DCT regularly offers giveaways for members – which cost a minimum of $19.90 per month – the promotion is aimed at anyone who can fill up within the two-hour time limit.
The company recently announced it will be running a 99 cents per liter promotion on the first Tuesday of every month, in line with the RBA’s cash rate decision.
But DCT founder Jon Tsingolas was so excited about last week’s success at Punchbowl that he is continuing the discounted fuel offering for the second week in a row.
Tuesday’s offer at Figtree will be available to all motorists, not just paying members as previously stated.
The next location will be somewhere in Victoria on June 4 and move to Queensland on July 2.
Drivers are expected to queue up to take advantage of the two-hour promotion in similar scenes seen at Punchbowl in Sydney’s south-west last week (pictured)
