I’m disabled and my sister kicked me out of her wedding for a ‘shallow’ reason
- Boris, 15, took to Reddit to complain about his family
- He revealed that his sister threw him out of her wedding because of his crutches
- The teenager wondered if he was at fault
A disabled teenager has revealed he was turned away from his own sister’s wedding because his crutches ‘didn’t fit’ with the theme of her special day.
15-year-old Boris, who suffers from a mild form of cerebral palsy, took to Reddit to recount the shocking events that took place on the day of his 22-year-old sister’s wedding.
He revealed that he and his family got into a heated argument at their brother Sophia’s wedding over the fact that his crutches were blue, meaning they would stand out in photographs.
In the Am I the asshole? subreddit he wondered whether it was right that he had to use crutches instead of his black cane, as his sister had requested.
Boris explained that he was told to leave the wedding by his six sisters and his mother, and was blamed for causing a ‘commotion’ after being told he could not appear in family photos.

The post was titled: ‘Sister kicked me out of her wedding because I have a disability.’
He explained: ‘I (15M) am the middle child of seven sisters. Yesterday my oldest sister, Sophia (22F), got married to her fiancé and I was very excited. I am very close to Sophia and I like her husband.
‘I have a mild form of cerebral palsy, which means I often use a cane/crutches to walk, mainly for balance.’
He explained that his sister had begged him to customize his walking stick to match the wedding theme because his walking stick was covered in stickers at the time.
Boris said: ‘Sophia had asked me to make my walking stick a bit more presentable for a wedding. (The theme was black and white) which I totally understand (my normal walking stick is covered in stickers). Of course I understand it wasn’t exactly formal so I wrapped it in black tape which my sister was happy with.
‘On the day of her wedding I was just having a really bad day. My legs were aching and I was having trouble with my balance.
‘Although I planned on using my black cane, I ended up having to use my crutches which are blue. I figured it would be fine (because who cares?)
‘I recently had the opportunity to greet my sister at the front desk. She seemed very offended that I was using my blue crutches and asked if I could just sit there and not bring out the crutches so as not to mess up the color scheme.’

“I was frustrated, but I just did it because she’s my sister and she’s right, they were very noticeable.”
When it came time for the family photos, a heated discussion ensued.
“When it came time for photos, I was heavily dependent on my crutches that day to keep my balance. My sister complained to our mother in a grumpy voice, ‘Boris (me) is ruining the photos,'” Boris wrote.
“I told her to swallow it. Then she begged our mother to tell me I couldn’t be in the FAMILY PHOTOS.
‘I was sure my mother would see how ridiculous it was, but she sided with my sister and said that I was technically ruining the theme.
‘My mom, Sophia and I got into a fight, I couldn’t believe my sister was crying over something so stupid. My sister’s makeup was ruined and now her pictures showed “ugly blue crutches”.
People on the web flooded the comments section and criticized his family
“Our mother told me to just leave and had the groom’s brother drive me home. I wasn’t allowed to stay for dinner or the cutting of the cake. My whole family is saying, ‘It’s her special day,’ and how I ruined it by causing a fuss. I really can’t imagine how that’s reasonable.”
At the end of his message he wondered if he was wrong.
People on the internet jumped on the comments and harshly criticized his family.
Someone said, ‘Not that asshole. Your family sounds shallow as f**k.’
Someone else added: ‘Not that b*tch. What the f**k is wrong with your family? That is the most ridiculous thing ever. You have done nothing wrong and your family are a bunch of idiots.’
One user wrote: ‘What a dick you are, your family sounds awful. If I were you I wouldn’t talk to them at all.’
“Your sister is crazy. Not the asshole,” someone else wrote.
