Disabled Harry Styles fan left in tears as she is seated in an area with no view of the stage

Disabled fan of Harry Styles cries while sitting in an area with no view of the stage or screens at his Queensland concert

A disabled fan of Harry Styles has been devastated after being sat in an area with no view of the stage at his Queensland concert on Tuesday night.

The woman, named Dominique, shared a post on Facebook explaining that she was excited to attend the concert but was “heartbroken” when she was sitting in an area where she “couldn’t see the screens or the stage.”

‘If I’m being completely honest, I’ve cried more in the last few days than I have in the last year. I was heading to the Harry Styles Love On Tour concert at Heritage Bank Stadium with immense fear and intense anxiety,” he explained.

Dominique said she had asked for the tickets closest to the stage and was told that the ‘A’ reserve seat was the wheelchair accessible locker.

“I was grateful to be going to the concert, so I accepted the fact that it wouldn’t be as close as I had hoped,” she continued.

She went on to explain: ‘Once we got to Heritage Bank Stadium and went through security, we went straight to our seats. Initially I thought I would be able to see the screens but as the stadium started to fill up with thousands of fans and the moment Harry appeared on stage all my worst fears were confirmed within 2 seconds.

‘I couldn’t see a single thing. By the time everyone stood up in front of me, my vision was completely blacked out. I couldn’t see either side of the screens, as well as the stage, this remained throughout the concert.

‘My support worker went up to security and the seating manager and asked if we could move but were told we’d find the same problem no matter where we moved, he couldn’t see a thing. He was broken. Devastated and completely destroyed beyond my comprehension.

Dominique said all disabled people should have the “right of access to public places, including concerts.”

“The level of discrimination displayed by Heritage Bank Stadium was extremely palpable that night and it just wasn’t good enough. It’s 2023 and unfortunately ‘inclusion’ is still not ‘inclusive’ enough,” he continued.

“To simply be unable to see what you’re paying for just because you’re disabled and in a wheelchair is inexcusable and unacceptable.”

“Most of the other people who were present at the concert that night had easy access and visibility to all the screens, except those who were in wheelchairs. That is just unfair. We pay the same price as anyone else and we have the same right to enjoy the concert.’

Dominique shared a photo of her limited view of the stage and screens from her location.

It comes after Heartbreak High star Chloé Hayden went on a scathing tirade against Marvel Stadium in Melbourne last week after claiming she was denied access to its sensory room.

The 25-year-old actress, who lives with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), requested access to the room on Friday while attending a Harry Styles concert and said she was turned away by security.

The sensory room contains noise canceling headphones, weighted blankets and tools so that people with autism or severe sensory issues have a safe space to come to.

“Hey @marvelstadium remember you can’t preach inclusion and then not let me into the sensory room because you decided I don’t look autistic enough,” he began.

“How disappointing that the same venue has proven to fly its wake-up flag and ticking the disability box is where its values begin and end,” he added.
