Dirt bike racer posts shocking photos after horror accident left her with no feeling in her legs

Gold Coast motocross racer and fashion brand owner Taylor Peet has posted shocking photos after the accident that left her paralysed from the chest down.
Peet, owner of clothing brand Throttle Girls and founder of motorcycle club Girls Can Ride, was riding in the Lockyer Valley west of Brisbane when she fell from her motorcycle during a jump on June 29.
She suffered broken ribs, a punctured right lung, broken wrists and severe damage to her spinal cord, leaving her with no feeling in her torso or in her body at all.
Peet was airlifted to a Brisbane hospital and later underwent surgery on her spine.
“We went up some hills to practice my jumps because that was one of my main goals this year,” she posted on Instagram.
‘Not long into the morning, I drove up and did the jump. Little did I know that the next jump would be the one that would change my life.
‘I was thrown over the handlebars when I hit the slope and the rest is now my reality.’

Peet then described her injuries and the shock of waking up in the hospital with breathing tubes down her throat.
“This past week has been the toughest time of my life mentally and physically, but if I’ve learned one thing from being here, it’s to never doubt the reason you ride your bike,” she wrote.
‘Accidents can be scary, but the lifestyle and love for the sport is why we do it.
“I have created the best lifestyle and memories on two wheels. More than off the bike. Finally, a great reminder that life offers challenges to those who can handle them.”
Peet thanked everyone who was by her side, including the doctors, nurses and the rescue team.
“It wasn’t until now that I realized how big the community behind me was,” she wrote.

Pete said the support she has received has been amazing, with a GoFundMe set up to pay for her treatment raising a huge amount
“It’s amazing how much positive messages and help I’ve received from you guys.”
A GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for Peet’s recovery from the accident, and it has at the time of writing, over $50,000 raised.
