Diner scalded by fried chicken ‘bomb’ that exploded in his face

A man suffered burns after biting into a fried chicken snack at a bar in Brazil and it exploded in his face.

Video footage showed the customer sinking his teeth into a ‘coxinha’, a popular chicken treat in the country, when it suddenly burst as the bar’s owner looked on in shock.

The burned restaurant received medical attention at the scene and was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The accident took place last week in Curitiba, the capital of the southern state of Paraná.

Owner Christian Amaral said the coxinha had been left in an oven before being handed to the customer, who regularly visits the bar.

Amaral said the customer was back at the bar the day after the incident and had some burn marks on his face.

After the footage went viral, Amaral told CNN Brasil that he had capitalized on the freak accident and created a new slogan for his establishment – ‘Explosion of Flavor’ – in the hope of attracting new customers.

“Something that turned out positively for us, right,” he said.

‘It was nothing serious, thank God. If it had been something serious, right? It could have turned into something negative,” he added.

“If it turns into something positive and funny, that’s fine.”
