Serhii Tokarev, an IT investor and co-founder of the investment group Roosh, has announced the launch of Diia.City United, a union organized by the members of the Ukrainian tech industry aimed at creating an environment conducive to the growth of tech businesses in Ukraine.

Diia.City United, founded with Roosh and other prominent companies including Monobank, Genesis, Ajax Systems, MacPaw, and Netpeak Group, is committed to shaping clear and transparent business rules. The union seeks to establish a productive dialogue between the government and the IT sector, with the ultimate goal of positioning Ukraine as a favorable environment for technology businesses.

The Ukrainian IT sector already commands a substantial presence, contributing five percent to the country’s GDP, boasting an $8 billion turnover, and accounting for over 40 percent of exports. Serhii Tokarev believes that the industry can reach even greater heights by addressing current needs, such as legal transparency, work predictability, a favorable business climate, and the refinement of the legal regime. In a Facebook post, he emphasized, “The Union will be an effective tool for collaboration with the government to make the industry more efficient.”

During the unveiling of Diia.City United in Kyiv, Ukraine, strategic priorities were outlined, emphasizing the protection and refinement of the Diia.City regime, fair interaction rules between the government and the tech sector, and the resolution of urgent issues in the IT industry. These priorities also encompass education development, accelerating the integration of the Ukrainian technology sector into European and global markets, and fostering a space for DE&I – diversity, equality, and inclusion.

The union’s focus on creating transparent conditions for tech business in Ukraine aims to empower local companies, attract international investments, and solidify Ukraine’s position as a leader in the global tech industry. The collaborative effort of MPs, EU, and G7 embassy representatives, investors, and influencers during the presentation underscored the importance of this initiative.

Oleksandr Kosovan, the President of Diia.City United and CEO of MacPaw, highlighted the wealth of talent, technology, and innovative ideas already present in Ukraine. “Our goal is to establish a productive two-way dialogue, where the state and business consider each other’s needs,” he stated.

Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov expressed confidence in Diia.City United becoming a powerful case of collaboration between the technological business and the state. According to Natalia Mykolska, the Executive Director of the Union, the goal is not just to convey the needs of Ukrainian businesses to the government but also to demonstrate how tech companies can actively contribute to Ukraine’s progress.
