At the beginning of the video she said, “Here are the top 10 foods that make you gain weight.
‘Of course, you can only gain weight if you are in a calorie surplus or if none of these foods are bad. They just secretly contain a lot of calories.’
The first food you should pay attention to is actually dessert, according to the dietitian muffins contain extremely high calories.
She added, “You know those muffins from Costco that are big, yummy, delicious and taste so good for breakfast? I want you to guess how many calories are in one of these. If you guess between 700 and 900 calories, you are correct.
‘It’s like eating cake for breakfast, which is delicious, only it has more calories.’
She then told her followers to keep their hands out of the granola bags because one cup can contain “400 to 500 calories.”
She noted that you should be careful when eating granola because it is “not as calorie-dense as you might think.”
“Number three is nuts, of course they’re very nutritious, but a cup of these roasted almonds will give you 600 calories,” she said.
She added that you shouldn’t completely cut them out of your diet because they are good for you, but you should eat them in moderation.
The dietitian also advised you to practice “good portion control” when it comes to another nut product: peanut butter.
She explained that people often eat more than two tablespoons of peanut butter, adding that just one serving contains 200 calories.
‘Number five is dried fruit. Not only are they very high in calories, but they also tend to be high in added sugar,” she said.
She also noted that chewing dried fruit makes your gastrointestinal tract hate you.
Tayla had to make a follow-up clip with the other half of the foods to look out for.
The sixth food that can make your calorie count skyrocket is a fan-favorite Italian dish.
‘Number six is pasta, not because it’s bad, but it’s just very easy to overeat. So the next time you cook your pasta, make sure you measure it to see what a 2-ounce portion actually looks like,” she said.
Next on her list is another food she claimed people don’t measure.
She added: ‘Number seven on this list is chips. I want you to take a look at these tortilla chips, one serving is just seven chips.
“When was the last time you ate only seven chips?”
Tayla noted that many of the foods on the list pose a problem if you forget to measure them, especially her next item, which is salad dressing.

“So usually one serving is two tablespoons, but two tablespoons can easily make four,” she said of the salad dressing.
The dietitian described the ninth item, alcohol, on her list as “obvious.”
‘This one is probably obvious because of course it will be extra calories, but if you are in a calorie deficit and you are trying to burn body fat while drinking alcohol, your body has to stop metabolizing fat in order to get through to the alcohol.
“So it essentially blocks your ability to lose fat while you’re drinking it and a little bit afterward,” she explained.
Finally, she said that you shouldn’t eat out because you often eat more calories than normal without even realizing it.
