James Corden has used his wife Julia’s protein allergy to explain the context of his now infamous feud with Balthazar owner Keith McNally.
But now a dietitian has questioned the idea that he was upset because his wife has a “severe” protein allergy — saying anyone with the condition would most likely avoid omelets altogether.
Corden, 44, apologized on Monday night’s Late Show for his… “unfriendly” to the staff at the popular NYC haunt, trying to explain herself by saying that his wife, Julia, had been fed foods she was allergic to.
Julia had ordered an omelette with egg yolk and told the staff she wanted it without egg white as she was allergic but returned the plate when the dish arrived with egg white in it. The last straw was when the remade omelette was sent with a side of home fries instead of salad.
Now Dietitian Fit & Co’s registered dietitian, Reema Patel, who has offices in London, Surrey and Berkshire, told FEMAIL that it’s “impossible” to prepare the dish without egg whites, as it’s impossible to completely remove the egg yolks. to separate.
She added that a person who is allergic to eggs is strongly advised to avoid all egg products, including omelets.

“If someone is allergic to egg whites but not egg yolks, it is strongly advised not to eat an egg yolk omelette,” says Reema.
‘It is not possible to separate the egg white from the yolk, which leads to contamination. Even the smallest protein can trigger an immune response, which can be harmful,” she added.
“People with egg allergies may be able to tolerate baked goods because a long-cooked egg can destroy the egg protein,” Reema tempered.
“There’s still no way to predict this, though, so it’s best to make sure all egg products are avoided with an egg allergy,” she added.
Corden apologized Monday night during his Late Late Show for berating staff at McNally’s Balthazar restaurant in New York City
Corden, who appeared on his Late Late Show yesterday, admitted he had been “unfriendly” to Balthazar’s waiters, but tried to explain it again.
Last week, owner Keith McNally announced on Instagram that Corden has been banned from the restaurant twice as punishment for rude and childish behavior. On the first occasion, Corden was upset that a hair was found in his food and demanded free drinks to make up for it, according to McNally.
On the second occasion, his wife Julia ordered an omelette with egg yolk and was given a plate of egg whites on it. The last straw was when the remade omelette was sent with a side of home fries instead of salad.
“James Corden started yelling at the server like crazy,” McNally said, citing the general manager’s service report.
But last night on his show, Corden insisted that he not yell or make “derogatory comments.” His only offense was making the “unnecessary” and “snide” remark that he would “make the omelette himself” if the kitchen staff couldn’t.
He also claimed that the dish was prepared incorrectly “three times” – one more than previously claimed – and that his wife Julia has “a severe food allergy.”
‘My wife explained that she has a severe food allergy.
‘The meals came, my wife got the food she was allergic to. She hadn’t taken a bite of it or anything, don’t worry, we sent it back. Everything was good.
Balthazar owner Keith McNally (pictured) has reignited his war of words with James Corden by saying a BA flight attendant flagged him for saying she’s not a fan of the British comedian either

“When her meal came out wrong for the third time, I made a sarcastic rude comment in the heat of the moment about cooking it myself. It is a comment that I deeply regret.
“I’ve worked shifts in restaurants for years, I have such respect for everyone who does that work.
“The restaurant manager and the waiter were nice, they brought out four glasses of champagne and we were like ‘you don’t need it, we don’t need it, we had a great time’.
“But here’s the truth – because I didn’t yell or yell, I didn’t get up from my chair, I didn’t scold anyone or use derogatory language, I walked around thinking I didn’t do anything wrong.
“But I did. I made a rude comment.”
It was the first time he offered that information, despite giving an interview to The New York Times last week saying he had done nothing wrong.
Last night, Corden said his father showed him the light. His old saying was always ‘never complain, never explain’.
“As my father pointed out to me on Saturday – he said, ‘Son, well, you’ve complained, so maybe you should explain.’
Corden and his wife Julia dined at Scott’s in London in 2018. He said his wife politely told staff she had a “severe food allergy.”
“Look, if you make a mistake, you have to take responsibility. So I thought I’d share with you guys what happened if it’s all right.”
“In the heat of the moment, I made a sarcastic rude comment about cooking myself.
‘It is a comment that I deeply regret. I understand the difficulties of being a server. I’ve worked shifts in restaurants for years.
“I have so much respect and I appreciate everyone who does such a job. And the team in that restaurant is so amazing. That’s why I like it there so much.’
He added that when the staff brought champagne “as an apology,” he thought the matter had been resolved.
Corden said after seeing McNally’s post, he contacted him “immediately” to “tell him how upset I was.”
‘(I told him) how upset I was that someone was hurt by everything I’d done and everything I’d said and we had a good chat. He appreciated the call. I was glad we could clear the air. And I felt like we were dealing with it privately… but at this point the story was out and more people were upset.”
After showing a series of scathing tweets to his audience, he continued, “I get it. I fully understand. I understand that everyone gets angry and I accept everyone’s opinion.
“I also hate, as I told the owner that day, that I ever upset anyone. It was never my intention. It just wasn’t. I like that restaurant. I like the staff there.
“I hope one day I can go back in so that when I get back to New York I can personally apologize there, which I absolutely will.”
In his original message, McNally said, “After eating his main course, Corden showed it to Balthazar manager G., who was very apologetic.
Corden was extremely mean to G, saying, ‘Give us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or something like that.”
In a second incident, McNally alleges that Corden was dining with his wife, Julia Carey, at the diner for brunch on October 9.
He says that Corden asked for a table outside, and that Wife Carey ordered an egg yolk omelet with a salad.
The couple complained to the waiter that there was “a little bit of egg white mixed with the egg yolk” and sent the dish back.
McNally added: “The kitchen has remade the dish, but unfortunately sent it with house fries instead of salad.
Then James Corden started yelling at the server like a madman, ‘You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go to the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!’
‘MK (server) was very apologetic and brought G. (floor manager) to the table.
“He returned the dish and after that everything was fine. He gave them promo champagne glasses to smooth it out.
‘G. said Corden was nice to him, but mean to the server. MK was very shocked, but professional as she is, continued to finish her shift.’
