Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in New York City overnight after voluntarily traveling to the city, his attorney said.
Officials have not yet released details of the charges against the producer, but they are expected to announce his indictment Tuesday morning.
Combs, 54, was staying at the Park Hyatt hotel in downtown Manhattan when he was arrested. He is reportedly currently being held at an FBI office.
The rapper, formerly known as Puff Daddy, is expected to appear before a federal judge after being arraigned on undisclosed criminal charges.
Over the past year, Combs has been sued by people who claim he physically or sexually abused them. He has denied many of the allegations, and his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, called the new lawsuit an “unjust prosecution.”

A woman said Combs raped her 20 years ago, when she was 17.
A music producer filed a lawsuit alleging that Combs forced him to have sex with prostitutes.
Another woman, April Lampros, said Combs subjected her to “terrifying sexual encounters” starting when she was in college in 1994.
Former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard said he groped and threatened her when she worked for him from 2005 to 2012.
Cassie’s attorney declines to comment
In November, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, filed a lawsuit alleging that he had beaten and raped her for years.
The lawsuit was settled in one day, but months later CNN aired hotel surveillance footage showing Combs punching, kicking and throwing Cassie to the ground.
Cassie’s attorney Douglas Wigdor said, “In response to the many questions we have received regarding the charges against Sean Combs, neither Ms. Ventura nor I have any comment.”
