Justin Timberlake was brutally attacked by Ricky Gervais on Wednesday as the singer’s arrest for drunk driving sparked a wave of backlash on social media.
The former NSYNC singer, 43, was taken into custody after police officers spotted his car driving erratically through Sag Harbor in the upscale New York enclave of The Hamptons on Tuesday.
Timberlake, who is currently in the middle of a world tour, told officers he had only consumed ‘one martini’ – but he was arrested and taken to the nearest station after he ‘performed poorly on all standardized sobriety tests’.

After reports emerged that Timberlake told officers on the scene that he had “just one martini,” it opened the floodgates for dozens of memes to be created on social media.

The father-of-two is also said to have been unsteady on his feet and “performed poorly” on a field sobriety test, which he ultimately failed.
Sobriety tests often include being asked to walk in a straight line from heel to toe and turn or stand on one leg.
Fans joked that Timberlake, who was famous for his impressive dance moves on stage, could have mimicked one of his routines when asked to walk in a straight line.

He is due in court on July 26 after being released without bail.

A police report obtained by DailyMail.com shows that the Sexy Back singer was pulled over after he blew past a stop sign after leaving the restaurant.
Officers said in their report that they witnessed the pop star crossing the road before they intervened, and described finding him “in an intoxicated state.”
The pop star has two upcoming shows in Chicago later this week, followed by back-to-back nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City next week.
A source told DailyMail.com: ‘Justin was out for dinner with friends and there were police cars stationed outside the restaurant, as is the case most nights.
“They’re looking for people who leave after midnight and may have been drinking.”
