A male stripper provided a racy lap dance for the birthday of a 102-year-old resident at a care home in Durham.

Legumes were sent to West Lodge Care Home in Crook, County Durham after Monica Ruddick made the unusual request for her big day.

Her two wishes included a visit to her local church and a strippergram performing a raunchy dance.

The home's staff also threw a party for Monica and provided her with a large birthday cake.

As they danced, Monica said, “I've got the baby oil,” before adding, “He'll pass.”

The stripper, Adam Price, volunteered to perform because his wife works in the house.

He said: 'Apparently she likes a man in uniform. I'm glad I can make her day.'

Monica, originally from Wolsingham in Durham, has had an extraordinary life, from working in a canteen during the Second World War to living in a convent for 25 years.

Gillian Hannah, one of the staff members, said: 'Monica has lived a life as vibrant and diverse as the community she calls home. Although she never married or had children of her own, Monica's life is dedicated to caring for others.

'From caring for naughty boys in a boys' home to supporting a woman in a TB centre, she worked tirelessly through the war in a canteen and helped nuns in a convent for 25 years.

“Monica is a living witness to history, having seen four kings and one queen sit on the throne.

“Her incredible journey was fueled by a spirit of resilience and a unique philosophy of life – to live it to the fullest, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends. She is convinced that laughter is a must in life.'

She added: 'Remarkably, Monica retired at the age of 62 but continued her role as a caregiver, caring for her brother until he was 92.

“Even at the age of 90, she showed unwavering strength and love. Monica didn't move to West Lodge Care Home until the impressive age of 101.

'Monica wanted a birthday celebration that combined the unexpected: a stripper gram for her sassy side and a visit to church to celebrate the joy of life.'
