Gary Lineker surprised BBC viewers with a surprising comment about Portuguese star player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal were eliminated from the European Championship after a penalty shootout defeat to France, as Joao Felix missed the decisive penalty.

Ronaldo played the entire match and scored for Portugal in the shoot-out, but just before extra time he required the attention of physiotherapists when manager Roberto Martinez gave a team talk.

Rio Ferdinand, who was working as a pundit for the match, saw Ronaldo being massaged on both legs and said: ‘He’s got two masseurs on his legs! What’s going on there? One on each leg.’

Lineker then made a crude sex joke and replied: “Luckily he doesn’t have three.”

His comment prompted laughter from BBC pundits, particularly Ferdinand.

The BBC presenter’s joke also caused a frenzy on social media, with one person writing: ‘No, Gary Lineker loves that.’

Someone wrote: ‘Did Lineker just make a joke about Ronaldo’s third leg?’, while another posted a message with three laughing emojis: ‘Gary Lineker making a joke about Ronaldo getting a masseur to massage his third leg.’

Another BBC viewer said Lineker’s comment “killed” them with laughter.

Someone else tweeted: ‘Gary Lineker it’s not even 10pm mate – making jokes about leg 3 of the Euros mate!’

It was another tough night for Ronaldo, who failed to score at the 2024 European Championship due to Portugal’s elimination.

Ronaldo has said the tournament is likely to be his last Euros, as questions are raised over his international future after five disappointing performances for Portugal.

However, Al-Nassr’s star player could set his sights on competing in the 2026 World Cup, when he will be 39 years old.
