There are fears a mysterious figure spotted on the side of a dark road in Nebraska after multiple accidents has taken a terrifying new step.
The individual, who was spotted immediately after four separate incidents, is said to have made hoax phone calls, posing as one of the victims, to a news channel reporting on them.
WOW reported that three voicemails, all from the same man, were left with the station posing as one of the victims they spoke to, asking for the story to be taken down.
It comes as investigators visited the home of an unidentified person of interest, although they have not yet made any arrests.
Garrison Beach and his wife Skylar had spoken to the outlet last week about how they had been driving on Highway 36 outside Bennington when they crashed.
The couple had to swerve to avoid a piece of metal apparently left in the middle of the asphalt, and ended up in a ravine.
As they walked back up the slope, they encountered a strange figure that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, making the pair nervous.
One of the voicemails shared by the station reads, “Hello, this is Garrison Beach and I would like the news article about the accident to be removed.”
The real Garrison Beach said, “I just think it’s crazy that we’re at the point of someone calling and impersonating me on the phone in an attempt to get the story taken down.
“Obviously it wasn’t me calling. Someone has something to do with the accident, or is shocked to realize that this has happened and wants it to go away.’

Garrison and Skylar Beach, seen here, were driving on the road in Douglas County when they had to swerve to avoid a piece of metal in the middle of the asphalt
The couple had a small interaction with the man who has been seen at least four times after road accidents.
The man asked them to wait for emergency services in his own vehicle, which they had seen at an intersection with its lights on, apparently looking at the road.
The nervous couple declined, with Skylar telling the outlet, “It was just really strange. He was there when we got out of the car.
“Since our car was in the ravine, no one would know we were down there. It was strange how quickly he showed up, as if he saw everything happening
‘As soon as we said, “No, we’re going to wait for the police,” he just walked back to his car.
‘It was quite scary. “I remember screaming and I wasn’t sure when we were going to start rolling, but we were lucky enough to walk away from the accident.”
Garrison believes it was the same person they spoke to that night who left the voicemail and said the voicemail sounded the same.
On Wednesday morning, local officers investigating the mysterious events served a search warrant.
The person of interest sat in a police car while officers searched the property and was allowed back in after two hours. No arrests have been made yet

Numerous officers searched the Bennington home of a person of interest in the case, hoping to find evidence pointing to the strange events.
The suspect sat in a police car while officers searched the building and was allowed back in after two hours. No arrests have been made yet.
The man left the scene before the couple could find out his name, but it appears this type of behavior has happened before on the exact same stretch of road.
Kyle Sorenson had a nearly identical story from the Beach couple, with his vehicle hitting a child’s bicycle left in the middle of the road.
Sorenson recalled at the outlet that immediately after colliding with it, the man appeared behind him in his vehicle.
He told the outlet, “I hit a child’s bicycle that was left in the middle of the road. When I looked in my rearview mirror, I saw someone sitting on Pawnee Road.
“They pulled up behind me and it was this person who said he was checking if we were okay.”

After seeing little damage to his vehicle, Sorenson left the scene unharmed, but his wife later saw the man following a car that was leaking oil on the highway.
Sorenson added, “In two weeks, this was three incidents where he was immediately the first person on the scene.”
Speaking of the voice messages, Sorenson told the outlet, “Yes, that [voicemail] Definitely sounds like the same person who pulled up behind me.”
Capt. Eric Sellers with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said they do not believe kidnapping is the motive in this case.
He said: ‘They are the first people to help and call 911, so in their minds they are a hero, but they cause these accidents.’
Sellers said the person is not breaking the law by posing as Beach, but it would be a crime if he did the same to police.
